Benefits of joining Dawnguards and Vampires!

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 7:02 am

Please tell me all the benefits for each side, I found out that being a dawnguard is actually kind of cooler than being a Vampire, as people said you can craft the crossbows and craft explosive bolts, people say that you can become a vampire lord while you are a dawnguard. You can also get armoured trolls that are not as good as gargoyles and you can also get the Auriel bow for both sides? Is this all true, I want the best for my character he will be evil if you pay him well, but he can be nice too!!! So what is the overall best bow? I heard the dwarven crossbow is sick!!! Please discuss and give informations without spoilers (I have a ps3)!!!

Each side has its own benefits while you can become a vampire lord on the dawnguard side there are special rings and amulet that boost your vampire lord abilities as well as add 100 magicka or health depending on which ring you choose to where and each side has its own unique radiant quests for an example if you choose vampire you have the option to get a quest if you are married to turn your spouse while the dawnguard side has many quests involving hunting vampires and the vampire side involves killing rogue vampires.

Which one is more fun? I thought before of going with the vampires but now I am a dawnguard supporter? What do you think?

Go with which one you feel you would have more fun with there are many things about both sides that are enjoyable I first went through as a vampire and I am now going to go through as a dawnguard. Both sides have unique items and equipment exclusive to them as I said

Oh and those rings and amulets I mentioned are exclusive to the vampire side while crossbow bolt schematics as well as dwarven crossbow schematics are exclusive to the dawnguard side

as the Vampire side is explained well, I'll do the Dawnguard side.

Dawnguard
  • Access to Crossbows and Bolts
  • Dawnguard Heavy/Light Armor
  • Radiant quests which could involve friends, followers and even your spouse.
  • Player Lodging (non-upgradable)
  • Dawnguard members will follow you after you finish the Main Quest.
  • Two dogs with armor you can use as followers. (beware, they die, it's permenent)
  • There's an orc there who will make you blood-kin after you've done enough quests, allowing access to the Orc Holds
  • All the Soul Cairn content.
  • Restoration Spells that directly affect Undead/Vampires (they are pretty awesome for a RP Paladin)
  • Dawnguard exclusive weaponry. (Some place runes on strike, others place sun cloaks, hurting nearby undead)
  • Every radiant quest late game will reward equipment that will sell for a high price.
  • You get to kill vampires!!!!
Edit: Also, you can still be a Vampire Lord. You just do get the special benefits provided by joining Castle Volkihar.

Can someone do this for the Valkihar please? Everything I've read shows me that the Dawnguard get so much more considering that you can opt to become a Vampire Lord after you finish their questline. It seems the only downside would be no Vampire Lord equipment to boost stats. If that's the case, this was very poorly designed in regards to balance.

The only things vampire side gets is 2 rings that give 100 hp or 100 mana. 2 necklesses that improve ur VL abilitys and a blood challice that improves drain spell in ur normal form.

What! How do you get gargoyles without VL form? If you cant then its not exclusive o the vampire faction.

When exactly do you get the option of turning into a VL? Is it after the MQ?

What happens is that after the MQ you get sent a letter by serena, You open up the letter and a vampire bee flys out stings you on the forhead and turns you into a vampire lord.

[spoiler/] After the second quest in the DawnGuard questline(Expansion not Faction), 'Bloodline' you either A.) Join Harkon or B.) Stay DG. If you stay DG then at the quest when you need to go to the Soul Cairn/Get The Elder Scrolls you'll be zapped upon entering, then Serena will tell you the Soul Cairn is hungry for souls. You can either be Soul Trapped, leading to you having lowered Regeneration and 40 pts loss in the Soul Cairn or become a VL

You can get one of the Unique spells that heal undead if you play Dawnguard side.

I'm working on a list of vampire content. Just beat the DG MQ.

Yes, right after defeating Harkon. You can speak to her about becoming a vampire lord.

Gargoyles are the only reason I'm even considering trying Vamp Lord. I was a HUGE fan of the animated TV show as a kid.
