I liked skyrims quests better in some aspects and if oblivion had been less generic it would have beat skyrim and morrowind in everything.

Im not sure which had the most quest, though if I had to guess its between Daggerfall and Morrowind.
As for best quest, Oblivion hands down as has been stated by so many others. A brush with death, Zero Visibility, A shadow over Hackdirt, the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild quest lines, everything in Shivering Isles.
Skyrim has the worst quest though imo, they are all exactly the same save Mind of Madness and a Night to Remember.

In quest and writing, Skyrim is the worst.
The overall best for me is still Morrowind, but Oblivion is also quite cool.|
What changed during Skyrim's development? Why the game lacks so much in writing, and the main thing for me, why Skyrim does not feel as Elder Scroll-ish as other games?

It's a hard question for me, almost impossible. Oblivion had the best quest, no denying about that, but the world kinda ruined it for me. Morrowind, on the other hand, has the best world. I didn't play a lot of Daggerfall, so my judgment might be a bit off. Anyway, what do you prefer most? A fun and believable world with meh but lots of quests (imo), or a meh world with memorable quests? I have chosen for the world and enhanced my world with LGNPC and other quest mods, but the same can be said for Oblivion (OOO, for example). In the end, it comes down to personal opinion.

Also it felt like 50% of the quests involved going to a ruin and killing draugr... I mean holy [censored] was there a serious lack of diversity in the quests. Main quest? Kill draugr. Companions? Kill draugr. College of Winterhold? Kill draugr. Thieves guild? Well not quite as much draugr killing but if you actually want to steal things I hope you enjoy boring as sin "radiant" quests.

Daggerfall for most quests.

Morrowind for best quests.

Oblivion also has some really good ones but I think Morrowind was better at this. Skyrim also some really good quests too but not like Morrowind.

FYI: I personally do like the Dawnguard questline. I know people dis on that a lot.

Skyrim with Dragonborn deserves a little bit of bump for sure. Unearthed, Served Cold, The Final Descent, everything to do with Neloth, the Thirsk thing with the Reiklings, going to Apocrypha.

Oblivion has the best quests but is often claimed to be the worst of the three how odd.

Because they really failed when presenting Cyrodiil's culture, history and lore. Knights of the Nine helped, but the lack of any substantial difference at all between Colovia and Nibenay was disappointing. I love Oblivion's Cyrodiil, but whatever it had in charm it also lacked in character. Not to mention the horrendous level scaling and frustrating UI menu. Great game, and I don't know if I'd call it the worst of the three, but for for all the good they did with quests they kind off-set with the poor exploration aspect.

Just my 2 cents.

Morrowind certainly had the most quests, since miscellaneous quests in Skyrim don't count. They seemed like a lazy excuse to not put in more real side quests like there were tons of in Oblivion. Oblivion had the best I would say, specifically the guild quest lines which were all awesome.

Actually, I don't think it's odd at all. Speaking for myself quests are not very important to me. In fact, many of us do not even play quests, or do so rarely. So, for some of us, our opinion of a game does not rest solely on our opinion of a game's quests.

Come on, now. Everybody knows that Hentus Needs Pants is the best quest in the series.

Oblivion had the most memorable definitely. Skyrim loses both of the polls for me because the radiant MMO quests don't count as full quests to me.

Oblivion had the best quests by far. Most of them weren't great but there were some that were very memorable, unlike the quests found in other TES games.

I think Skyrim's Daedric quests blow all past game's Daedric quests out of the water.

House of Horrors, and Discerning the Transmundane, get special mention

Have to agree on that. Unfortunately, Mephala's quest is unfinished and is the worst of them all...

Yes, Skyrim has memorable quests. But they aren't the same. I mean of a quest that when you look at what makes Elder Scrolls, Elder Scrolls, you would look at such and such quest. I never look at Skyrim's quests when viewing how great that series was.

Agreed, but still room for improvement. I feel like they put the most work into the Daedric quests and half-assed everything else.
