Best class for archer?

Post » Wed Mar 05, 2014 1:45 am

Was originally thinking NB was the archer class but briefly looking at the class skills it seems to me that NB is more focussed on rogue melee style. Am I wrong there? Id think an archer would want more of a CC class to keep foes out of reach, so maybe sorc would be more suited to archer. Or Templar? I notice they get an instant cast snare. What do you all think?

I too would think Nightblade would be the ''typical' Archer class...

I don't know which is best, but I really enjoyed my DK archer. heavy attack, poison attack, fiery reach, stone fist, dead.

I've been playing as a Nightblade with a bow. I love it.

Every class can fit into any role. They have their different pros and cons. Is not like a dragon knight sounds more like a warrior therefore it should be a tank, that doesnt apply here as fully solid. Ive seen mostly nightblades focusing on bows btw, I have also seen templars using their class ranged abilities + bow and the sorcerer. I personally used a bow with my dk for my 2nd ranged set up. But atm it seems that nightblade is the preferred for bows.

I did nightblade in beta but i hardly used any skill from nightblade. I don't think i will use the class specific skills as i don't see the use (and the room in quickslots) for them. I will just put the points in bow and medium armor and imperial skills and one-handed and cooking and alchemy.

I don't think there is an archer class I mean what does nightblade give that's archer like? lots of close up attacks, some stealth maybe

I think sorc works nicely because you have all those ranged spells to go along with your arrows.

Nightblade synergizez best with bow. Other classes work too but NB+bow = awesomeness.

Could you please explain a bit how the NB class skills synergize with bow?

An attractive class for a ranged character will have spells that slow, knockback or stun the enemy(s). Use your Magicka to control the battlefield and Stamina to engage the snared enemy..

It's like shooting fish in a bucket.

EDIT :

Actually, that works well for any character

I was Sorc Bosmer with bow and dual swords, since I was Bosmer with medium armor I was able to get my sneak real strong with my racial and armor. I had a lot of DPS with escapes, stuns and DD. In PvP I would win at least 90% of my 1v1.

You get three bars with sorcerer, your bow, dual wield, and storm calling ultimate. I had CC abilities with the sorc, I had slow and knock back with my bow, and with dual wield you have charge stun and weapon bonuses. I found this play style a lot of fun and very viable in PvP. I'm sticking with this build at launch, especially with spell swords coming out.

For pve, any class really, but if you want to rely on your bow for damage, you have to wear at least 5-6 medium armor pieces to take advantage of the armor passives.

For pvp, nightblade only atm, there are too many gap closers for the melee, sorcer just instant kills you, so the only way to counter both of those is to use invisibility.

I am leaning towards a Bosmer Nightblade Archer msyelf. I really enjoyed this class overall. I can't really speak on synergy, because I am still learning the skills, but I think the idea is for us to stealth and unload massive damage from range, and then slip back into the shadows for another big attack which could be another range attack or melee. The siphoning line looks great for DoTs, debuffs, and snares allowing us to kite, along with the agnony skill for crowd control.

NB, predominantly using the siphoning tree, with Assassin's Blade morphed to give it 15 yard range as an execute.

Sorcerer also have combat pets, who will tank the others if you pull an group of mob, downside with sorcerer is that their spell scale with magic but bow with stamina, for any setup with plenty of stamina the bow is an obvious weapon.

I'll go with the templar archer since I want to play a range dd in pvp and a healer in pve. Hence, bow and resto staff are great on a templar

Was thinking that using both magic and stamina might be a bonus since then you are making use of both magic and stamina regen.
