Best console to run Skyrim on?

Post » Tue Sep 27, 2011 6:12 pm

I am just wondering what to Pre-order skyrim on and I am new to the, The Elder Scrolls series. If you guys want to be helpful can you fill me in on what has been happening. (I Probably am going to get for Xbox cause my laptop is pretty bad even though I would rather it on PC.)

PC, if you can run it decently. Otherwise get it for the 360.

My PC can run the most taxing games on the highest settings, but I prefer Xbox. I find it more immersive.

Why do these threads exist? They attract elitists of all kinds who start console wars.

PC version has better graphics.
PC version will have mods (which, let me tell you, can hugely improve the quality of the game).
PC version has a better frame-rate.
PC version lets you use a keyboard+mouse or a gamepad, while the 360 version only has the gamepad.

360 version can be simpler to setup.
360 version is guaranteed to work properly.
360 version will get DLC one month earlier.

Unofficial patches, mods, better graphics, console commands, etc... PC would be the better choice

EDIT: oh yeah 1080p>720p

I play everything on Xbox 360 but I'd rather have PC version because of mods. But my laptop couldn't even dream of handling Skyrim.

I sometimes wonder if people make these threads just to get a "I reached the post count" pat on the back or something. The question has been phrased in every possible manner a thousand times over, and the answer is always the same.

Get whichever one you want.

Interesting. I find sitting closer to the screen, so it fills your view (I have a 22' screen, so it fills most of my view) more immersive. Not to mention you have MUCH higher pixel desity than a TV, and higher ingame graphics. All of those things make the game far more immersive to me.

At OP, if your laptop can run it at higher graphics than xbox, get it for PC. If you prefer a 360 controller, buy a wired one and plug it into your PC.

WAIT!... Too late, the console war has begun again.

My opinion-

I am saving up for a $1200 computer build and hope to have it by winter. This means I won't have Skyrim for a while (A month or two) after its release.
I think X-Box is easier to play for longer amounts of time, as when I'm playing PC games my hands cramp up from all the WASD action going on.
If you have a powerful computer with good ram, good CPU, probably an SSD, and a good graphics card, then it is obviously going to be better on PC.
I'm trying to get in on a PC, but I don't know if it is even worth the hassle if I don't have $50000 to buy a N.A.S.A Super-Computer, as that seems like the only thing able to run games now.

For $1200 (or quite a bit less, in fact) you should easily be able to get a computer good enough to play basically all of the latest games at the highest settings. PCs are way cheaper if you buy the parts individually.

EDIT: Also, there's nothing stopping you from using a gamepad with a PC.

I've never understood any point of this debate that revolves around what sort of screen you use - I've only ever played games on a PC, but there's this magical thing called an HDMI cable that costs around £5 and I can plug one end into a socket on my graphics card and the other end into a socket on the TV, and bingo I can play games in high resolution on my widescreen TV (and watch streamed video/DVD's/BluRay etc. from my PC on the TV too). PC gamers are not restricted to a small monitor.

Just so you know, about 60% of people on X-Box run it at 1080p. Just buy a HDMI cable for 5$ like I did. I played Black-Ops with my new TV, and it was soo old looking I went and bought an HDMI.
