Best Dead Thralls

Post » Sun May 27, 2012 11:19 pm

Hey guys I'm currently running around with my mage and have come across the joys of 100 Conjuration.
In short I'm experimenting with Dead Thralls.

Who are some particularly power Dead Thralls you have created and the methods by which you procured such a body?
Also is there any way (via use of console command, mod, or otherwise) to get people to stop saying my spell looks dangerous? Its actually kinda getting annoying now.

Personal experimentation so far:

Savos Aren:
1. The man is a absolute monster. Not only does the guy self buffs himself with flame cloak and iron flesh but the guy blasts off fire-balls AND summons a dremora lord every battle.
2. Don't think you can get this guy easily. His body WILL disappear if you are doing the Winterhold College quest line (even if you dead thrall him. The summon will disappear during the quest). I'm not 100% sure but I think the only way to get him via normal legitimate means is to kill him before ever touching the college of winterhold quest line. The 2nd you start the questline I believe he becomes essential and unkillable. Not to mention this guy can easily kill most players.
3. I got him by first finishing the entire quest line, spawning him and killing him with console commands and dead thralling the body. (Only reason why I do this is because roll-playing wise I think its unfair that the game deletes his body. I WANT him and I should be allowed access to his body :flame: )

Orchendor:
1. Also a monster. If there is an anti-mage in the entire game its this guy. Amazingly high magic resist and scary spells to boot. Many people have ran face first into this guy and ended up dead after he teleport/healed and came back full health from 1/4th hp to knock you on your butt.
2. While killing this guy is a difficult task for some people its a part of a quest. Totally worth the effort to get this guy if you want a dead thrall that will lay down lots and lots of hurt.
3. Practically unkillable and is a dead thrall everybody can get without the use of console commands or quest/glitching.

So who have you guys dead thralled and how did you get them?

I think most people would be pleased with Zombie Lydia since she's far more useful as a thrall than she is for most people in life.

Great topic OP, been wondering about this myself and have been meaning to experiment. Had a master necromancer thrall for a while who was a great help, but gonna have to check out this Orchendor. Just checked though and already killed this guy. Hope his body's still there.

Love this thread! FOR SCIENCE!

Only one I tried was the caller in the mage guild questline. She summons frost atronachs and does decent damage herself aswell.

Sadly... I rerolled short after reaching 100 conju and never got to experiment proparly!

Im most curious if you can animate Ancano. Also 2 of the Oculatus as bodyguards would be imba aswell I think.

I have Champion of Boethiah currently. He seems to equip the Ebony Mail even after I've already taken it from him and finished the quest. I didn't check his stats after Thralling him, so I'm not sure if he actually wears the armor or if it just looks like he does.

He does seem pretty worthless though. He might be more useful to a mage-character than my current one, who basically only uses some restoration spells to get stamina back quicker.

Getting Savos Aren is tempting, but I think I'll try some regular Arch Necromancer first and see how they do before messing with the console.

Savren would be cool. Though I agree with the OP that you should be able to animate him and therefore it is justifiable to use the console, I cant do it myself. The only manipulation of the game I use is vanity and cosmetical changes as "cheating" in any way makes me unable to personally enjoy the game.

I wonder if you can reanimate Astrid after her... accident...

God this calls for a 100 conju character out of barrow den. Summoning a bound blade kiting a bandit around for 5 hours only to experiment on every possible NPC! Hmmm challenge accepted...

I haven't done this myself, but I have been hearing good things about the Sebastian Lort, who you get from Clavicus Vile's quest, and Orchendor combo. Combine this with a normal follower for tanking, and two summoning staves for your thralls, and you've got yourself a small army!

Heads up people if you want to experiment with 100 Conjur don't do the bound dagger trick that takes forever. A faster way for people (who don't have console commands) would be to kill something and continuously cast soul capture on it.

you can make Ancano into a thrall, he has kind of low HP even with the +100 HP perk. He does shock and fire spells and summons a frost atronach

Pretty much this. Apparently if you give him the Sanguine Rose all types of funny business happens :P

Has anyone had trouble resurrecting NPC's because they are too powerful for Dead Thrall? I'm level 44.

Yep. Dead Thrall has limits. Dread Zombie will animate higher level stuff, but they are not permanent and even then some things are just too high level to be reanimated at all.

Some NPCs lvl with you and once you hit a certain high lvl (around 36-40 if i remember correctly) you can't resurrect them

Adding to my previous post about Champion of Boethiah; He magically spawns a new Ebony Mail (worth 5000 on my lvl at least) when you Thrall him, even if you've already completed the Daedric quest to acquire it from him. It is probably exploitable to kill him again and again to get as many of those armors as you want. Just need to exit game after each kill->loot->re-Thrall and he should be wearing it again.

Personally I got tired of the "Uhh..." x 2000, that I heard and so I'm going solo again for now. Also the fact how everyone comments that I need to be more careful with my spells annoyed me.

When you reach 100 in Conjuration, the trainer in College of Winterhold will you give you a quest. After you complete it you can buy Dead Thrall (and elemental thralls too) from him.

Thralls do not crumble to ash, they just die like any other normal npc would, so you can just re-Thrall them when they die.

You really don't need to perk to get them, but Conjuration tree has good perks that allow you to have 2 Thralls and increase their health by 100. So it is worth it to take those perks.

Good to know (personally i don't like using things that feel like exploits but this is a single player game so to each his own).

Also I am very very very very very tired of people telling me to be careful about my magic. I hope someone makes a damn mod to fix this sometime soon so I can get on with my life and not have everyone tell me to back off just because I have two reanimated corpses behind me. :(

Seriously are they really that scary looking?
