Best PC Deals (Or PC Parts) to get in order to run skyrim?

I would like to switch to pc gaming and would like to start off with skyrim. Thing is though, I don't have the system requirements and would like to upgrade my desktop according to these specs:

Recommended Specs (For running Skyrim on "High" settings at 1920x1080 resolution)

  • Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
  • Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
  • 4GB System RAM
  • 6GB free HDD space
  • DirectX 9 compatible NVIDIA or AMD ATI video card with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 or higher; ATI Radeon 4890 or higher).
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • Internet access for Steam activation

Minimum Specs (For running Skyrim on "Low" settings at 1920x1080 resolution)

  • Windows 7/Vista/XP PC (32 or 64 bit)
  • Processor: Dual Core 2.0GHz or equivalent processor (presuming older Athlon 64 X2 CPUs since Pentium D started at 2.6GHz)
  • 2GB System RAM
  • 6GB free HDD Space
  • Direct X 9 compliant video card with 512 MB of RAM (some cases of 256MB cards have ran the game...depending on card of course)
  • DirectX compatible sound card
  • Internet access for Steam activation

Howecer, I don't want to be charged an arm and leg for these parts. Can you tell me any good deals for any of these parts pieces, especially with what brand of each part? I'm doing some reasearch on my own but I'm new to the PC world. I need help from the experts.

Also, I noticed that the specs says, "Internet access for steam activation". Do I really need steam to play skyrim on pc or is it only if I buy it off steam?

I am curently running on a windows 7 system (Or was it xp, i forgot) so that's one thing checked off.

THanks for the help.

No, you can play offline, but you need it for validating the game, first time. (You need to add the CD key to steam anyway.)

After that you can choose "go offline' and you do not have to use the internet after that.

:thanks:

And..... unless you buy the CD Skyrim you will have to DL it off Steam.
