Best DLC?

Post » Thu May 30, 2013 9:44 pm

I haven't bought any of the DLC's and was wondering which would be the best to start off wtih. I'm trying to decide between Dawnguard and Dragonborn, because Hearthfire really doesn't tickle my fancy. So which is the best out of the 2? Give me reasons please :).

I feel Dragonborn is the best, new place to explore, badass armor and weapons, and just the environment.

I like the music too.

I've only played Dawnguard, so I think Dawnguard is the best even though I didn't think it was that great.

I'm in the same boat. I have Hearthfire, and will be getting either Dawnguard or Dragonborn this weekend.

Of the few DLC available, Dragonborn is apparently the best.

Dawnguard is alright. It has a pretty long MQ while Dragonborn has a really short one. However, DG has little side quests while DB has a whole load of them.

I liked Dragonborn, but I preferred Dawnguard.

I liked Dawnguards questline better, added some great Spells (Summon the ghost horse), the Ancient Falmer Armor is really good looking, not to mention the quest "Lost to the Ages" has one of the best rewards in the game..

By comparison i thought Dragonborns storyline to be rather boring, Solstheim just fells empty and lonely..

Don't overlook Hearthfire - that was the first one I got 'cause there was still so much to do in Skyrim that I didn't want to mess with an expanded world. Hearthfire lets you do lots of fun stuff - adopt kids, get a bard, garden etc. My current PC doesn't really fit a 'home owner' profile but I'll pick it up again with the next one. Hearthfire is so different from DB and DG that it's pretty much a standalone option. Give it a try and see how much fun it is. One word of advice, buy, like, 300 logs from the mill. I hated running out of lumber during a building project.

it was certainly a nice change

it was the first time, since i stepped out of helgen, that the game actually made me say 'wow', seeing the vale for the first time

i adore it, if i was on pc, i'd probably mod myself a house there or something

Why would I spend $60 on a game I already have just for the DLC's, when I can get all 3 DLC's for $30?

I liked Dawnguard more, but that doesn't mean Dragonborn was bad. A fantastic DLC.

You need both. Best to start off with? Probably Dawnguard. Best DLC? Dragonborn.

Getting all 3 is the best option. They all offer great additional content. Hearthfire is more than just BYOH projects it adds new stuff as well.

I mean, they're cheap.

Dawnguard for the plot and improvement towards the vampires, Dragonborn for the content. But overall? Dawnguard takes the palm.

I was expecting Hearthfire to be my fave of the two DLC's I got, but Dragonborn surprised me. It was a great DLC. Liked Hearthfire too. I expect I'd have enjoyed Dawnguard too, had I gotten it, but cest la vie.

Dragonborn is the best, prepare to be disappointed if you're looking forward to Dragon Riding though.

Dawnguard is amazing in its own right though. Two of the best quests in Bethesda history, Lost to the Ages and Touching the Sky are found within this DLC.

I like DG but there are three areas that are just so freaking long. You feel somewhat relieved once you get out of there.

I would say DAWNGUARD first to prepare yourself for DRAGONBORN. HEARTHFIRE adds a lot of nice touches to the world like adoptable children and new food recipes along with new items such as toys, children's clothing and building supplies.

I don't know why you would want that. If you ask me, why would I want that, I'd answer because that way I'd have the 3 DLC's in a disk, expecting them to load faster, and MAYBE, I'd blindly hope, even when is not likely to happen, that they come with some DLC's glitches already fixed.

Agreed...

Spoiler

OP, go with Dragonborn if you want new landmass, quests, locations, ect. Dawnguard added new locations too, but it is another good choice. Tough call, IMHO.

I will probably get DB, but I really want DG too for the Vale, arrow crafting, and Dragonbone weapons.
