It will depend on what you understand by "best".
Technically? Obviously Skyrim
Promninent as a landmark in the industry? Morrowind
Story-wise? Down to personal taste
If I had to choose though I'd take Morrowind without any doubt. Mediocre console ports are the bane of PC gaming, and I think Oblivion was a forgettable title anyway.

Atm, most likely - overmodded oblivion.

When CK comes out, it'll definitely change.

Morrowind will always be in my heart as my greatest game experience ever, but Skyrim rocks. If people don't want to use the fast travel, then don't use and stop complaining. It is as simple as making choice not to do it.

I did love Morrowind and Daggerfall. But I also love Skyrim its a hard one.. but I would say

1. Morrowind (Mostly because of nostalgia)
2. Skyrim (It may move up after I've played it more)
3. Daggerfall (Its a classic)
4. Oblivion (Had to be modded to "Oblivion")

Morrowind. I've never had the s**t scared out of me in a video game before, but Morrowind could do the trick. I also loved the setting, the lore in Morrowind.

A modded oblivion wasn"'t bad either and to me it seems vanilla Skyrim is a step up from Oblivion.

I started with Morrowind and for me and at its time it was better than Oblivion and Skyrim. Of Course Skyrim has the Technology advantege, but Oblivion and Skyrim can't match the Atmosphere Morrowind had for me ( I still love them). Since Morrowind you can see that they changed the game more and more for Consoles and the general masses...

Skyrim.

Removing the nostalgia from Morrowind shows that it isn't the stunning, flawless, perfect game the forums make it out to be.

Not to be an [censored], but no one said MorroWind was Perfect and/or flawless, just that it was ( in their opinion) "better" than Skyrim. To many, removing the nostalgia aspect further magnifies just how incredible many of us feel MorroWind is/was. IMHO it's apples and oranges anyway. MorroWind isn't Skyrim and Skyrim isn't MorroWind. Though I will, being totally biased, bring up that much of the music and many of the books in Skyrim that everyone is going crazy over...came from MorroWind. Even Skyrim's main theme song is a retooled "Nerevar Rising" ( MorroWind's theme). Some of the background music is note for note and many of the books are letter for letter MorroWind.

To me, the real loser here is Oblivion. Surely there must be a few souls that played all three that actually prefer Oblivion....right?

To me still Morrowind. No other game has ever given me that feeling that I can't really describe.

MorroWind

And dude . . . the "W" is not capitalized, don't know why this got to me so much but it just looks ugly ;)

I think Skyrim. It is the latest, and most optimized. They removed the bad from Oblivion, and adding a whole lot of new good. It's my favorite game right now, and will likely rest there until either Fallout 4 or TES:VI is released.

Skyrim is my favourite, but may I add that I don't see what everyones problem is with Oblivion. I admit Morrowind and Skyrim ARE better, but Oblivion was still awesome and deserved its GOTY. Why is everyone so harsh on Oblivion?

Daggerfall.
A classic metric [censored]-ton of content. It's atmosphere and soundtrack are still unmatched.
The dungeons still give me nightmares.

I've seen one so far, saying Morrowind and Skyrim lack the feeling of Oblivion which is the best TES for that user. Well, I guess that user just thinks it differently compared to us. :)

Myself I liked Oblivion a lot but Skyrim and Morrowind still more. Morrowind was the first and is still the most immersive TES game for me, too, it seems. I love how OTHERS don't scale depending on how good YOU are! That makes no sense. That game was hard, even frustrating at first, but it doesn't give you everything on a silver plate. No quest arrows, no scaling enemies, heck, not even clear directions and instructions! You also have to dig NPCs and you don't just get to know everything automatically. Those elements are so close to our own world that the game doesn't bother me one bit like the newer ones! It's the most perfect video game as far as I know! A perfect mix of old-school gaming difficulty and new-school hand-holding. :)

Skyrim, both as my personal favorite and critically (as it reached Bethesda's main goal: please both the mainstream and hardcoe audiences)

I love how OTHERS don't scale depending on how good YOU are!

They do actually. Check in the Editor for more information and you will see that there is Level scaling as well (to make it worse, some enemies practically stop appearing all together)
The only thing that doesn't scale in MW are character stats and it is just like that in Skyrim (besides few special foes)... and I don't remember seeing anything but Skeleton Champion after Level 20 (fixed by mods) so in a way it is worse than Skyrim where on high levels you still often meet weaklings

Skyrim. Over the course of the ES games they have improved upon the things the work and removed the ones that didn't contribute enough to the experience to make them worth it.

*edit* I can appreciate some of the "hardcoe" RPG stuff in Morrowind like no fast travel or quest markers. I might have voted for that if I were younger and had nothing else to do besides game. Ah, the good ole days.

I played Morrowind, Oblivion and now Skyrim. Without a doubt i have to say Skyrim.

I hated Morrowind and never bothered to finish it at all... it was just horrible in every aspect... combat dull, graphics ugly, conversations without voice while it stopped time as well, the whole place dark and grey... nothing interesting. I always just laugh at people acting like Morrowind was the best game ever, it was worse than Oblivion.

Skyrim is my favorite already within a week.
