Best fallout DLC

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:50 am

Ideally, I want a DLC with the openness and largeness of Point Lookout (hopefully larger) with the writing of Dead Money. Let's hope Honest Hearts delivers.

to obsidian.... do this^.

Point Lookout for the large world to explore.
Dead Money for the story and back ground to the couriers story.

I find it funny there's so much Pitt love. I found it ridiculously copy past survival horror with a sub par story. Then again, no one buys DLC for 'excellent story'.

For me I'd say its a tie between Dead Money or the Pitt.

I haven't played Point Lookout, but from what I've seen it'd probably rank pretty high too.

I didn't buy Fallout 3 DLC for excellent stories, but in the case of New Vegas DLCs, especially after Dead Money, it's the main selling point.

Mine would be Dead money first because It actually had a story line I could pay attention too, second because I liked the lesson at the end and the weapons were cool. My second would be Broken steel because its just pretty epic, then Point lookout, the pitt, Mother ship Zeta, lastly OA because you cant really go back to it or get the items unless you do some glitch thingy.

Point Lookout had a massive area to explore, yeah, and looked beautiful and was full of atmosphere. But it was.... empty, I felt. (and Colonel M, when you say "ridiculously copy/paste survival horror with a sub par story" that's exactly how I felt about Point Lookout. A brilliant GECK layout looking for something to do. As opposed to The Pitt, which ticked all the boxes (for me). Also, the ambience was exactly what I wanted out of a "Fallout" game - post nuclear, dirty, dark. None of this tumbleweeds/cowboys malarky... if I wanted Cowboys I would play Red Dead. And if that's the direction that the Fallout Franchise is going in then I don't know if I'll buy the next one. (Bethesda did a proper job with FO3 imo. FNV - not so much.)

Anyway, it's all down to individual tastes, right? Can't please everyone now matter how much you try.

1. Point Lookout: big and open unlike the other DLCs that I find very confined. Plus I like the double barrel shotgun and lever action.
2. Operation: Anchorage: It gave some sense on how the world was before the bombs fell, plus the snow was a great change from the deserts that are the Capital Wasteland and the Mojave.
3. Broken Steel: The fact that it opened the ability to play after the ending, made it worth it.
4. Dead Money: Good story and characters, but I found the gameplay a bit lacking.
5. Mothership Zeta: The weapons were fun, but the the damn thing was way to linear.
6. The Pitt: I found this one to be pretty boring. The sides were not that great and besides the metal blaster, the weapons were not that great. I did like the fact that it was somewhat grey.

Point Lookout, I loved how open it was. I prefer that style of DLC.

Gonna have to go with this one. Then the Pitt because of the Stuff you can get

No idea really.
I guess Operation Anchorage.
I've played it over 20 times and I still find it awesome.

1.Point Lookout - It had everything I could want in a dlc. It was crazy, humorous, and also had quite enjoyable quests and what not. It did also satisfy my crave for exploration.

2.Dead Money - What really made me love this DLC was the story. It was dark, a little funny, also somewhat romantic. It gave you a feeling at the end, like it was only the beginning (Well it is.. lol).

3.Broken steel - While I did think this shouldn't have been a DLC, I really enjoyed this. It brought closure to the story for me and I just about love anything Enclave related. Very well done though.

4.The Pitt - This was a very, very enjoyable DLC. I loved seeing a whole new area other than the CP. It was a little bit scary (Trogs!), enjoyed the moral choices, and liked getting a taste of the Fallout world.

5.Mothership Zeta - This was more of a joke for me. While I unlike many others love aliens in Fallout, this was maybe too much. I had fun listening to audio logs and talking to the diverse characters you work with to escape. Interesting weapons, a bit confusing navigating but it was quite the experience.

6.Operation Anchorage - It was great being able to fight the battle in Alaska against the Chinese. It did help myself understand more of the pre-war story. It could have had a little more depth in my opinion, but was fun overall.

Fallout 3 was my all time favorite game. I loved the DLCs and they made me crave for more and more Fallout. NV is off to a good start and I can only hope it has the same effect on me as FO3 had.

Apologies for another post but when I read this while exiting this post I couldn't agree more. Although I couldn't have the will power to refuse another Fallout game, I do hope Bethesda takes the reins in making FO4. If it's anything like NV, I will be disappointed.

LOL I REALLY HATE the aliens from the fallout 3/NV, green, big head, irck, the alien from fallout 2 is better...

My favorite dlc is point lookout becouse,,, hmm i like swamps.
but the best history is dead money...

Obsidian making a new fallout is the best choice, best history, best gameplay, best characters.
Bethesda is good to The elder scrolls, not fallout, the makers of fallout 3 dont have read the fallout bible's .-. green aliens kkkkk!

And i not speak english, please dont hurt me =D!

1. IIRC there were no aliens in FO2, just some weird crashed US aircraft, there were aliens in FO1 though, unless you're talking about Wannamingos which were genetically engineered by humans, not aliens, still, the one's in FO1 had bigger heads than the one's in MZ.

2. Doing fine so far. :)

I can understand the confusion, though. I thought they were aliens until I discovered the Fallout wiki in 2008 because that's what they were referred to as in the text box.

Well they were a nod towards ALIEN so I'm sure there was confusion for a lot of people when they first saw them.
Ain't exactly the first thought in ones head that "oh but these so look like they were genetically engineered by a shadow government to be used as biological weapons but due to wastelanders having no idea where they're from the dubbed them as aliens."
Seriously though, what's up with MZ's aliens having such small heads? The one's in FO1 (and the mentats patient in FO2) had heads the size of x1.5 medicine ball.

But... They're genetically engineered.
It would be lore breaking to change them into actual aliens.
They're only called aliens by the populace (except Redding) since they have no idea what it actually is.
Even Wannamingo's aren't their actual name, just the nickname Redding's miners gave them. (IIRC)

I'm gonna go with Dead Money because of the "let go" plot and the depth the characters had. Ashur from The Pitt was great too.

sorry for being off topic but did u play the originals? if u did then thats why u have that opinion. most ppl i kno that never played the originals, feel FO3 was better.

on topic: i jus wished dead money didnt force u to play stealthy. theres not enough ammo to jus run and gun (my 1st character was built to play as that, 2nd play through was much more enjoyable with my stealth character). hopefully obsidian will tak note and make dlcs hav more option for gettin through the dlc.

This was dealing only with FO3 and NV not the originals which I have played.

NV did much better than FO3 IMO.

Not sure how FO1 and 2 got included in this comparison.
