Best game ever made

Well, TES existed separately from other games of the time, sharing much in common with roguelikes more so than the RPGs of the time. I don't think there was any evolution related to TES from other titles such as Ultima or Wizardry, rather they evolved separately. TES continued to refine it's first-person open-world sandbox style, where as titles such as Baldur's Gate and Fallout were heavily influenced by titles such as Wasteland, Ultima 7, and Darklands. Ultima 7 being one of the most pivotal RPGs in history, including things such as a day and night cycle and radiant AI.

Ultima didn't feed on to Arena and Daggerfall directly. In fact, Ultima was a much more popular RPG series at the time -- Ultima 6 & 7 being huge, along with Might & Magic and Wizardry, which were also contemporary RPGs.
