Best horse?

Which is the best horse to buy?

the fastest is Black horse and strongest is white horse but which is the best one to buy and is there any cheap way of getting of either of the two horses; because I think 5000 gold too much.

How about Unicorn horse.

PS - I have checked the UESP page on Horses.

If you're doing the Dark Brotherhood quest line, you'll be given the best horse in the game (Shadowmere.)

Unicorn is problematic. It will attack you if you ever draw a weapon in its presence.

Otherwise, the cheap way to get any horse is to steal it. :)

Of the non-unique horses, I'd say the white is the best, just for the added health. Enemies in Oblivion are obsessed with targeting the horse rather than the player.

I will miss the Shadowmere horse because I won't do the DB quest for now But that is the problem.

I ride on Horse most of the Time and White horse is not as fast as Black horse but again White is stronger.

That's my Issue.

If you don't have the money, the only other way is to steal the horse. As far as I know, there are only two "free" quest-received horses in the game (Shadowmere and Prior Maborel's Paint Horse.)

Edit: Oh, yeah, and the "old nag" from Horse Armor, since it appears you have that dlc. :)

Well, as Edgar Vautrine says, "You want free? Go down the holes, kill some monsters. Sell your loot back in the city!" :)

Haggle

The speed difference between the horses is not that great, so pick the one you like. Same with the armor, pick the one you like the looks of.

Yes you can, it's the button on the bottom of the Barter screen. You can haggle and set the Buy/Sell rates with any merchant, even ones that sell spells. While you can't haggle with the Horse seller, you can Haggle to get better prices when you sell loot.

You should be able to. When you open the trading window with a merchant, you should see a Haggle button at the bottom of the window. Press that, and you get a slider that you can use to attempt better prices.

Edit: Sneaked in there, didn't you, CCNA? Ninja'd again. :)

The Seller makes me feel like a worthless person; he sells at 60% with Disposition maxed.

How do I make my items sell at leat 80 to 90% of the price ?

I don't think we can haggle horse prices in the vanilla game. Edit: In fact, I know we can't.

On topic: I don't think there is a 'best'. Even paint horses (being the slowest) have the advantage of better manueverability if we're in an area with lots of twists & turns. Black horses may be the fastest in a straight line, but it's difficult 'steering' one in a heavily-forested area (or an area with lots of boulders) without constantly running into things.

If you are having trouble keeping your horses alive, best thing to do is make sure if you are trying to fight an enemy that you ride far past this enemy. Dismount. Get off and run towards the enemy. What usually happens if you don't do this is the enemy will attack your horse instead of you. If you get to the enemy first, the enemy will usually focus on you instead.
