best house in skyrim?

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:01 pm

I also have the house in Riften. I like it, cozy :)

I can't figure out how to hang weapons on the weapon rack.. doesn't give me the option. Also, does anyone's maniquin dispear when you put armor on it? lol

Can't say I've formulated much of an opinion yet. I've bought Breezhome, Honeyside, Hjerim and Proudspire Manor. I get so much money in the game what else am I to spend it on?

Currently my wife is at Hjerim. Most of my crap is at Breezhome. Proudspire is my Alchemy location since I can put all my Alchemy enchanted items on a display mannequin which is close to the table and easy to retrieve then replace when I'm done. I also store all my ingredients there.

If Riften had a smelter, I would make it my permanent home. I just wish it had an alchemy satchel and chest in the crafting area like Whiterun has.

Markarth, even if the town has this creepy vibe going on that becomes all to clear once a quest is finished and you notice who shows up for dinner.

The pious paladin character will put that entire town to the sword because it's so messed up.

I don't know which one is best, but I know that my favorite one is in Riften.

I Would live in Markarth but that place is messed up. Riften too. The house in Whiterun doesn't fit for my epic Dragon slayah killah. Blood on The ice is probably bugged for me on this save aswell. So, Ummm I don't have a choice :P

doesnt work even so. if the quest gets bugged then you cant clear the house even if the emperials are in control. with my other char the mission didnt kick in and when i finished the emperial reunification i tried to buy the house, the steward only said there had been an accident and the house was not ready to be sold or something like that.

I like the abandoned shack or the Markarth house of horrors. The Dark Brotherhood and Mages guild houses are pretty sweet as well.

Be careful, I thought the abandoned shack was a safe place to store things. I was wrong and everything in my chest disappeared after a few days when I went back to retrieve them.

I like the house in Riften, nice and cozy and you can jump right in from outside, avoiding contact with an guards...perfect for my assassin.

Solitude doesn't have enough storage for me, I guess there's a lot but I don't like having to traverse three floors to dump my loot every few hours. Windhelm has more, it's only two floors and it's less cluttered. Solitude's house is just cramped, I don't like it one bit. Even with bugs, Windhelm wins.

I can't pick the best one, so I ended up using each one for something different. My Solitude house serves as my library (I'm a manic book collector), my Windhelm house is my Armor/Weapon showcase, Riften is where I store up on my stolen items until I want to make a sales binge. In Whiterun I keep my smithing and alchemy supplies, and every one once in a while go blacksmith happy, and then in Markarth I keep my sixy argonian husband and my enchanting supplies. The abandoned house is just for giggles if I feel like living off the fictional grid. ^^;

I use the Markarth house as my own personal Dwemer muesem and the Whiterun as base of operations and the others is just for a bed if I need to sleep in town

I personally like Honeyside (Riften) the best. This is because of two main factors, Location and content.
I love where the house is, you can just fast travel, take a few steps, and be at your house. The blacksmith is just a hop-skip-jump away as well. The house does only have a couple mannequins but that's usually enough for me. The bookshelves are decent although I wish they didn't have stuff on the top shelf that prevents me from using them. The garden is nice, though its uses are limited.
I'd probably like Hjerim just as much if it were closer one of the fast travel points, sometimes I forget how to get there. It does have a nice, big armory, Which is the main reason I can see people liking it above other houses.

I'd really like the arch-mage's quarters if you could use the shelves there... and/or put in weapon racks/plaques

I keep going back to Whiterun, I married into a house in Riften, but love the views in Markarth, so I am gonna buy there for sure. Just not gotten around to it yet.

Before I had enough Gold I lived and stored things at High Hrothgar(SP?) My own Castle with 4 monks :)

Now I stay in Riften. Nothing like kicking back after a long day and jumping off the porch into the lake.

I bought them all. I like Riften the best. I'm very tempted to switch from PS3 to PC though because it needs a bit of modding.

A few more active bookshelves.
A secret door leading directly into the thieves guild that can be bought once you become GM.
Get rid of the hay bale in the basemant and replace with a chest.
Some better lighting by the mannequins so you can see what is on them.

I think that would make it just about perfect.
