I think the best if Riften's.. It is small and has quite a bit of mannequins and weapon racks..

Windhelm's has the most mannequins and most weapon rack's.. But the first floor is very empty..

Have all of them. Id say Windhelm, if it wasn't bugged so you can't actually use all the racks/display cases. Riften is nice enough. Solitude is too expensive for what you get, it looks nice, but it doesn't pack as many things in it as Windhelm does. Pity really.

Proudspire manor (Solitude) is wonderful; I love it. Amazing views from the porch, three beautiful floors, great illumination. Honeyside (Riften) is also quite pleasant, and amazingly it has a door leading out right into Skyrim (to the lakes). Breezehome (Whiterun) is cozy enough, but the previous two have more personality I'd say.

I haven't seen the Markath and Windhelm homes yet.

Bugged, eh? Thanks for the tip. Haven't gotten that house yet.

Markarth is too much of a pain to get to to make it worth it.

I like Windhelm. Solitude's is prettier but running between all three floors to store my junk is irritating. Plus, Windhelm's house has a secret room and way more bookshelves.

I quite like Markarth's.... though the best one with the nicest flair is definitely Windhelm.

Dude/chick ... you don't have all the books. I ran out of space in Markarth and had to throw the rest up on Whiterun's bookshelves.

And yet, I hope these aren't all the books ... I want all my houses full with different titles.

I'm somewhat disappointed with Solitude's house. All those bookshelves but only the small ones can actually be used as bookshelves, still only 2 mannaquins, and no more weapon racks than Riften's house.

My favorite house that I've been able to acquire is the hall in Markarth. I love the architecture of the city, stunning views from my front porch, enchanting and alchemy and cooking, alchemy satchel, only 3 bookshelves but they're the longer shelves with 3 rows each shelf to boot so I think it's actually more space than Solitude (okay let's see.. 3x(3x18) = 162, 5x(2x11) = 110 so yup, Markarth has more book space), just as many weapon racks as Solitude (maybe more), and dagger display cases.

I can't get the one in Windhelm as I don't feel it is in my Bosmer's character to take a side in the civil war (on the one hand I can see the desire for Skyrim to have its freedom, but not under Ulfric Stormcloak and his "Skyrim for the Nords!" mentality, and on the other, I can understand siding with the Imperials, a unified Empire is needed to stand against the Thalmor, and I am against the Thalmor, who staged a coup and invasion and took over my homeland, and puts the Altmer on a pedastal above all other races and treats my people as uncivilized savages and sub-mer barbarians while they persecute and torture people just for believing in a God they don't like.... and yet currently the Empire is letting the Thalmor get away with whatever they want.. there are no winners in the Civil War), so I can't judge that house.

lol, yea, I did some pretty weird things to along the way. Like I collected every single main persons clothes in the story that I had to kill ( Special people, guards leaders, emperor's, rulers clothes they were wearing at the time of death, guild clothes, all levels of mage's robes, all levels of Vampires clothes etc, etc, everyone ) I have it all in two homes chests. I also collected every magic weapon I found along the way. I've beaten the game already. Did it in 19 days and it took 200 hours exactly.

I like Riften's house the best. Good amounts of storage, easy to get to from the main entrance (fast travel location) of the city, mannequins, etc.

Windhlem would definitely win for me if it were a bit easier to get to and the ground floor wasn't so empty. 3 mannequins (1 more than other houses) and all the display cases are awesome.

always markarth for me, its not that hard to get the markarth house, you only have to do 2 quests, you don't have to do a lot of quests it seems like it though if you don't just stick to the two you need to do...to get the markarth don't do anything else in markarth when you first get there except go straight to the jarl and he'll have you go on a mission, after you do the mission you go back to him and he will send you on a mission to get the shield and when you bring it back to him he lets you buy the house, so 2 missions, all the other markarth missions are just to get you to be thane, but for the house its just 2 missions and the reason people think you have to do more is because they don't stay focused on those two missions and they prob get lost in the shuffle of all the other missions on their list, but if you just stick to those two missons the jarl gives you, he'll let you buy the house.

I'm also living permanently now in Markarth. The windhelm house felt like it has too much open space, but the fake door is really awesome... Proudspire is in a crappy city... Riften is too 'cheap' feeling for my character's taste... Breezehome is nice, but not as polished as Markarth :P

My vote's for either Riften or Markarth. I like Markarth because it has the most bookshelf space, a mannequin, several display cases, and well-laid-out alchemy and enchanting rooms. And it's just a nice place with unique architecture.

I like Riften because it opens into both Riften and the outside world, and has a garden.

I've yet to purchase any of the homes. The only one I can buy at the moment is Breezehome. I thought about buying the home in Windhelm, but I don't want to get into the whole Stormcloak/Imperial mess right now (which I'd need to because you can't just buy homes anymore -- you have to earn the right to buy the home). Honeyside looks quite nice, maybe I'll get that one. I'd love to just stay at the College of Winterhold, but it has no mannequins, and that's a big deal (seriously, Bethesda, would mannequins have killed you?).

I like the abandoned shack or the Markarth house of horrors. The Dark Brotherhood and Mages guild houses are pretty sweet as well.

Windhelm if you're a packrat; Riften otherwise.
