Best House?

Post » Tue Sep 13, 2011 1:31 pm

So I've played oblivion a few times and usually have a house in IC cheydinahl chorrol and skingrad but thats just two expensive so I want one house until the end of the game when I will buy the skingrad manor. I want thats affordable yet not super small and dirty. I also want it to be in a city that really shows cyrodiil and not one from another culture. (ex. cheydinhal, bruma)

Anvil my friend. It's cheap and big, and Anvil is (in my opinion) the best place in the game. Sorted

Never really a fan of anvil always thought of it as a vacation town. Was thinking leyawiin but the town is two much like black marsh now i'm leaning toward imperial city. My favorite place is skingrad but obviously thats not hapenin for a little while.

You could always kill Sir Lazare and claim his house as your own. That SOB deserves it.

Still have to pick one, in Oblivion : I had 3 favorite towns in Morrowind :

Gnisis (my mining center was there) most if the Nevarine Emporium's oreproduction was ruled from the warehouse there.
Suran (my fams were there) lovely countryside, many plantations growing all crops in the game surrounding the place and shop them to the warehouse in suran. -> I was mostly here, loved those farmersgirls hehe
Khuul (main harbour of my fishing fleet, and my personal ship SS Nevarine was also docked there, together with my pirate crew who had quardters there, whenever I felt bored I went there to go pirating YARR!

My favorite city is Chorrol, and the house is cool, but my favorite is still Rosethorn manor in Skingrad

Wasn't the house in anvil haunted or something? If so, I would like to make my house there again.

You have pretty much ruled all but one out.

IC & Bravil & Leyawiin - too dirty for you.
Skingrad - too expensive.
Anvil - 'not a fan'.
Cheydinhal & Bruma - Dunmeritis or Norditis I guess.

So by default, that sort of leaves you in Chorrol.

Yeah I like Chorrol. Definately my favorite city along with Cheydinhal. But I think the Skingrad House is more rewarding because of how expensive it is.

The house in Anvil is indeed cheap and it is also haunted thanks to a pretty creepy shrine in your basemant that never goes away even after you fix the place up.

Early in the game the cheapest house is free. The pirate ship on the Imperial City waterfront is a nice place to stay. Even later in the game I still use it’s bed to level up. Just go across the gang plank and the pirates will attack. Run back up to the boardwalk and the Imperial Guard will help kill the pirates. After that, the captain’s cabin is all yours. Only the Captain’s chest is safe for storage and it is a very hard lock.

My latest character saved her gold and built her fame to buy the Skingrad house as quickly as possible - before the green guy fell off the bridge again.

Skingrad is the best house, Cheydinhal is next, Chorrol is OK, but has no fireplace, Anvil (Benirus Manor) has lots of storage, but it was designed and laid out by a Vanderbilt engineer - it just seems all messed up - the table right in front of the entry door - ykes.

I simply like the Cheydinhal house best. No contest. Next would be Anvil. I don't even care much for the Skingrad one. Too much superfluous stuff in there.

I've fixed it, sorry. Thanks, by the way, I thought that was the place.

While I prefer my Bruma House(at least on my Nord) you should take Anvil. It's the only affordable house that is "decent" when you are not counting Bruma or Cheydinhal.
