Best legendary weapon?

Thanks, I'll go pay Arthuro a visit.

So I guess that -40% vats cost is a legendary modification. How would that be on a supersledge ?

A blade looks way cooler than a baseball bat and 10 hits in vats sounds OP, do you need the Science perk to add the plasma mod ? I'm currently on 1 intelligence for Idiot perk, but will add to int after I level up to about ~30 or so.

My Rockville currently does 92 damage now, with 8 Strength, and I'll invest in Str till it's 11.

I also have a Furious Ripper (increase damage in each consecutive shot). Pretty fun!

your numbers look correct to me

Armor scales to weapon damage, if you have the rifleman perk your base damage would be ~128, meaning the armor is reducing the shot's damage to about ~120, with the extra 240 explosive dealing around 360 damage per shot.

Armor is scaled, if armor = base damage it reduces damage by half, which is also where it reaches optimal effectiveness, in order for armor to cut the damage in half again you need 3x more armor than the weapon's damage, and it only gets increasingly poor effectiveness as your armor keeps climbing,

the reason to improve your armor is so more powerful weapons deal less damage, the ones you already exceed are not heavily effected by more armor on top.

^^ This.

Explosive weapons svck point blank range (which is what you want with a shotgun). You might as well fire a Fat Man in a closet and get it over with.

As for the Best Legendary Weapon. There really is no clear winner. It all depends on your playstyle and what perks you have.

Most OP legendary i have is a kneecapper pipe pistol, a few hits and anything apart from flying enemies are down on the spot. 5 Legendary Albino Deathclaws....no problem, a few shots and I'll finish them with a power fist after I've looted the area, or I could just leave them.

Everyone basically covered ranged weaponry, but the best legendary Unarmed weapon is a Penetrating Deathclaw Gauntlet with Weighted armor slots. This basically allows the user to ignore nearly every bit of DR the enemy has and let's their already ridiculously high damage be consistent throughout the entire game.

Explosive minigun with all the perks is just the OP win-button end to everything.

In close-quarters where explosive stuff is a bad idea, my go-to is a kneecapper laser modded to be a full auto beam-splitter spray-gun. Two or three bursts from that and even the worst bullet-sponges will just lay down in front of you and flop around on the ground.

The best legendary effect depends on the situation and you preferred style of combat.

Personally, I do not use any legendary weapons at this point in time. I simply collect them and store 'em away for future usage. However, I have modded some legendary weapons for two of my companions. Both were given a modded Wounding .38 pipe rifle which does +25 bleed damage. I did carry a Never Ending double shotgun for a very brief period of time, but I never actually used it; it was primarily to defend against deathclaws.

Probably the best weapon I have found with a legendary effect is a Two Shot assault rifle followed by an incendiary hunting rifle. But it seems the vast majority of legendary weapons that have been dropped as loot are 10mm pistol followed by a relatively distant .38 pipe rifle. I bought Spray N Pray, but I just stuck it in a box where I keep all my legendary items.

Instigating Combat Knife. Slapped the Stealth Blade mod on it, took down a behemoth with it in the manliest way possible: stabbed it in the back twice while it wasn't looking.

Instigating Hunting Rifle. My baby.

Two Shot 44 Pistol. When sniping isn't an option.

The only weapon that has killed me in 20 levels is the one that I will declare as the most powerful:

Wounding Gatling Laser

I was so happy to take it off the hands of the Legendary Warlord Mute

It's probably nowhere near the best weapon out there, but my favourite weapon is this Plasma-Infused 10mm pistol which does an extra 10 plasma damage. It's vicious! Only downside is that it's a pistol so I had to spend some perks into Gunslinger as well. For some reason it seems to work really really well, and since I love the 10mm it has been my constant companion. It seems to do even better than the Ghoul Slaying 10mm when killing Feral Ghouls, and seems to do more damage than the Deliverer even though the Deliverer technically does more damage.

Do Energy-Weapon perks boost the damage of the Plasma component?
