Best mods for mages?

I'm in the middle of my mage play-through and I was wondering what were the best mods that enhance a magic user's gameplay. Thanks.

Another one which is often considered unbalanced, but which adds a lot of creative and/or wacky stuff is Midas Magic.

...and something on the sideline, but which (IMHO of course) makes it very much more fluid to play a mage, is my Enhanced Hotkeys mod.

It gives you up to 40 direct hotkeys (instead of the vanilla 8), multiplied if using wheel selector key, giving you the ability of hotkeying all spells you use.

But even more important, it lets you cast hotkeyed spells with a single tap of the hotkey (without changing the currently active spell), and even makes it possible to have multiple spells on the same hotkey, and either cast them all in sequence by a single tap, or cycle through them. It also lets you use any number of mouse buttons to cast hotkeyed spells.

This makes it possible to play a mage with a multitude of spells, without having to constantlty open the spell menu to switch spells back and forth.

I agree with the above posters: either Supreme Magicka or LAME (or both!) help a lot as far as making the vanilla spell systems more playable and adding a few new spells that aren't over the top. I also highly recommend Audacious Magery, plus if you like a little more challenge, add Fizzle! on top of it. It really can make spellcasting a lot more fun and unpredictable. (Plus you can configure how hardcoe you want the settings to be; personally I mainly use Fizzle's fatigue penalties combined with Real Fatigue, it makes things a lot of fun!). Enhanced Hotkeys is a must for spellcasters.

Druid Mod Remade is a very well done mod, especially if you want to be a mage outside of the mage's guild; lots of cool summons and shapeshifting and such.

If you just want fun new spells, and don't care about game balance, Midas Magic and Telekinetic Mastery are good choices.

Also your soulgem thingy mod is awesome too! That's relevant to Mages,

I like Supreme Magicka. It not only strengthens the default spells, it adds new spell effects (such as recharge, repair, jump for example), and modifies existing spell effects (fire can throw enemy, and you around, cold damage may paralyze, detect Life doesn't highlight undead, and other things).

I also use Advanced Magecraft with it, that adds some nice things, such as ability to remove enchantments, transfer them between items, learn spells from scrolls, and other things.

Fearsome Magicka, if you owns SI.
Not only you can get amazingly new (even if it's hard to acquire) spells different from anything vanilla can trhow at you (or even mods) but your enemies will also use them against you, leading for a very diferent strategy of battle. I just can't play without it anymore.
