Who do you think is the best NPC in Skyrim?

To be honest, I don't enjoy playing with NPC followers. The few times I've tried it, they proved to be unintelligent and difficult. I much prefer to conjure a familiar, an atrnoach or a Dremora Lord. These allies have a limited time to make their presence felt and they generally know what to attack.

About the best there are a few. Galmar Stone-Fist, Septimus Signus, Baldor Iron-Shaper, Iona, Isran and Gunmar.

Isran. Dude is just HARD. Thats the type of guy you take with you to Redwater Inn or the Last Vigil.

Serana is honorable mention for best NPC.

Character: Paarthy. He rocks.
Follower: Marcurio. Who needs to fight when you've got him along?*

*Except on Solstheim, where most mages get creamed.

Hevnoraak. He's a pretty chill priest once you get to know him. He treats all his followers with honor and kindness. Have you seen how loyal they are? He's a true Nord for sure. Should be High King.

I can't choose a favorite, but I always really liked that orc chick blacksmith in Markarth. Not sure why.

And that Happy Argonian lady on the dock that you can marry, never married her though.
