Best NVIDIA Driver for Crysis 2

Post » Sun Aug 07, 2011 5:06 am

Hi, just want to get some opinions on which driver version to you runs Crysis 2 the best.

Also, for those of you, who have better hardware, can you try lower the graphic setting to like "Very High" or "High" in MP, and test with both DX9 and DX11? Coz' I seem to be getting better performance in DX11 for some maps in MP.

If you will, please kindly also post your GPU, and in-game graphic settings.

Thanks!

Should probably also post my setup:
i7-870 @ 3.62GHz, GTX 480 single card @ 830MHz, display @ 1680x1050.
For MP, I set it "Very High" and both DX11 and DX9 have about 90-120fps.
Can't really decide which actually runs better...

in MP DX11 and high-res textures are disabled..
but WHAT THE FU** you get 90 fps.. you can set all settings to the highest level and you would still get more than 60 fps and this is MORE than nice, 60 > you get this feeling that there is no lag at all :P

Man, you waste your time an ours complaining about 90FPS? WTF... I play only with 32FPS max, on high settings. And I'm not complaining. I use 1920x1080p, tough! ;)

Yeah, that single vote is mine. I don't know witch is the best driver, but I recommend using only final versions, not beta vers.

I'm not complaining ^^" Just curious if any of the driver can help make it smoother, and maybe it can help someone out, too. Despite the fact that it's above 90fps, there can still be a little stuttering in certain cases... like in Wallstreet and Skyline during orbital strikes.

What I found so far is that with 270.61, the game runs very smooth, but there will be a massive frame drop during orbital, everything would stutter for a few seconds. With 266.58, such frame drop does not occur, but the performance isn't as smooth as 270.61.

I will be do some extensive testing with 280.19 later tonight and post back.

the 280 took the flickering away for me, it was like screen tearing when not using v sync on a 60mHz monitor.

I have tested the 280.19 Beta with Crysis 2 multiplayer quite extensively last night, and overall I found it to be quite a good driver.

I have never tried 270.33 in the MP due to the fact that that driver gives Crysis 2 texture problem in DX9.

I still changed back to 270.61 because it just feels more stable and the performance is more consistent to me.
