Best Perk Overhaul

Post » Mon Nov 09, 2015 9:15 am

So I just started getting back into Skyrim, finally downloaded all the official DLC and got all the mods I want and was playing the game. But now I'm starting to get kinda bored of it when I shouldn't be, namely because the combat is kinda boring me at this point. I figure it's time to get a perk overhaul, but I'm kinda overwhelmed by how many there are. I REALLY don't want to HAVE to start another character, because I kind of want my Argonian ranger to be the Dragonborn in my mind, and if I do restart I'm going to end up playing a mage or Nightblade, so hopefully any of the perk overhauls will work on pre existing characters. What do you guys use? I've seen something called SkyRe and another one called Ordinator. And FYI, I've already got ones that expand werewolves/vampires so I'm good on that front. Thanks in advance.

I use SPERG because its nice and straightforward and has some interesting effects.

Not like I ever stick with a playthrough long enough for it to matter

The most popular ones are Ordinator and PerMa, both have been thoroughly reviewed by Bordual:

I'm also looking into this mod called Requiem, but it REQUIRES you to start a new character =( which generally, I love doing in ES games, but gosh darnit, it's been 4 years. I'd like to beat this game at some point, lol. And like in Morrowind I had dozens of characters, but I have one that sticks out in my mind as the Nerveraine, I want that for Skyrim, ya know?

I'm looking at this Requiem mod and I'm loving the sound of it so far, but I'm worried that A) It sounds like things will be a challenge at first, but it'll be like in Morrowind where after you level up a lot you're a God and nothing can harm you and B) it will be incompatible with a LOT of mods

Perma's great, but I think the author doesn't recommend using it in an existing game because of how he changed the perks. It's possible, but you would need to remove all of your perks first I think.

My favorite perk mod is http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/21512/? In addition to the usual things you find in perk mods (more ranks, higher-level perks, reworked vanilla perks, ect), it adds many new categories of perks: Race perks, Class perks, Quest perks, Roleplaying perks, and more.

Typically I have the Community Uncapper grant five or six perks at level 2. I use these to give my characters race and class perks right away. This goes a long way towards getting rid of the "blank slate" beginning of the vanilla game and helps individualize my characters right from the start.
