Where's the best place in the game to farm for petty souls?

I've calculated, using the figures on the UESP "Leveling" article, that with the Mage Stone and Lover's Comfort, I can grind my enchanting skill from 15 to 100 with only 230 enchantments being made.

So, I'd ideally prefer a place that has a ton of petty soul creatures laying around, like a farm. A really big farm.

Or a wolf den that doesn't scale to your level and has lots of wolves.

Any suggestions?

I would say go north and scale the entire coast collecting horker souls, then down to Whiterun plains to all the watering holes where mudcrabs gather. You should encounter a lot of wolves too. Also, deer, elk, skeevers, rabbits and foxes have petty souls. Enchant a bow with soul trap for that maybe. The base draugr have petty souls so visit some barrows.

Also Meridia's quest has you kill a lot of corrupted shades which have petty souls. But you need to find her beacon in loot to start it.

So there's no definitive place to farm petty souls?

All the animals he listed are found where in Skyrim and aren't hard to miss, especially foxes who seem to always be somewhere near the player in any given exterior location.

In my experience (and I've logged over 500 hours into Skyrim, easy), animals with petty souls seem pretty few and far between.

But that could be because I level up really fast (I've pretty much mastered the art of leveling up), so they get replaced with higher-souled creatres before I've even finished Dragon Rising.

Which is why I'm asking for an unleveled location.
