Best place to live in new vegas

Post » Thu Sep 16, 2010 5:58 am

"Abandoned Home". (NOTE: You CANNOT Fast Travel straight to it, BUT you can to the Monte Carlo Suites nearby)

Fast travel to the "Monte Carlo Suites" near The Strip (it's on the left side, near an "L" shaped road). You will appear RIGHT in front of the door. Head to YOUR left and you will see a "Blue Hitch Trailer". Just behind it is the "Abandoned Home".

Fiends will sometimes randomly spawn in front when you exit it, but other than that (and the respawning exploding mailbox), it's actually a really nice play to live. Has a bed, cabinet, stove, fridge. (Fiends spawn because of the Suites, they're all bunkered up in there, which that's also another one you could use -minus the Fiends obv.)

It's really the only other place I've found that's not named after someone, or already occupied. It's the place I used for the beginning of my game. But once I got the Motel Room in Novac, IDK if I want to live anywhere else quite frankly lol.

BoS Safehouse. It' got a workbench, a reloading bench, plenty of lockers, foot lockers, and metal storage cabinets, and a BoS Paladin that's there about 1/3 of the time to repair your gear to a 100 percent if you need it.
Got a gatling laser, tesla cannon, some ammo, 2 different suits of power armor and helmets, and a recon outfit

i went and checked it out. It's.....ok, i guess. i mean it does have everything, but it feels like a guy's bachelor pad or something. Somewhere i wouldn't mind hanging out (if i was dating him), but not a place i'd want to live.

My favorite place that i love so much i keep visiting is the Hostetler home. Seriously, i love it to pieces. But i can't use the bed, much less the containers without her flipping out, and her corpse would bring down the atmosphere.

If you off an NPC, will the body disappear after a while?

You can use your 'grab' skill to pick up bodies and move them. Just stuff her in the bathroom and lock the door. Tell company that you just haven't gotten around to cleaning it up lately, so would they please go out back instead?

Vault 21 if you like cleanliness. Vault 3 if you dont mind fiends at your front door. The Lucky 38 for it's sheer beauty. Wolfhorn Ranch for it's largeness. The various shacks in the Mojave for that 'Wastelander' feel. or the corn house that has corn inside of it but it locked and it is bad karma if you pick it

Lol, I figure you'd say something like that. But yeah it's pretty much a "dude" house... still a house though! And it has almost everything (cept a First Aid Box). Plus, I haven't seen anyone mention it at all so... yeah... :D

I found another home, but it has Red Text (saying it's "trespassing"). It's called "Mojave Home", think it's on the upper part above The Strip? It's weird though... cause someone was growing a WHOLE helluva lot of Maize in there... If you can tolerate that then have at it! (I would've been growing something ALOT better then Maize if you get what I mean wink-wink XD)

I like and the lucky 38, but....
-Fast travel to outside strip loading screan
-enter strip loading screan
-enter lucky 38 loadng screan
-useing elevator loading screan
(get what ever i need from suit, rest, ect)
-using elevator 2nd time loading screan
-leave casino loading screan
-(if required)2nd fast travel loading screan.

Whoo.... Thats my problem with this place(and 2 ovens that cant cook, but thats minor).
I still live there cause its my command centor and all, but still. I at least wish they would give the 38 its own fast travel poin in the next dlc, but thats proply a pipe dream.

I used to like the Tops highroller suite, except those punk Chairmen would always sit around inside

Ha. I won the High Roller Suite the other day and starting having a (humorous) fit when those clowns waltzed in and sat on my couch.

For me personally, I don't stay in any one area this playthrough. I have stuff EVERYWHERE. It's kind of challenging at first because stuff might not be where you need it, but once you cross that hurdle it's especially great to always have somewhere to rest and resupply. Use the Lucky 38 though as my main base.

If you like being on the Strip, then I would pick the High-Roller suite in Tops and just kill the two creepers that join you in your room, or pick the Presidential Suite
If you're that classic wastelander that enjoyed Fallout 3, then I would pick either The Scavenger Platform or the Wolfhorn/or Windmill Ranch. Wolfhorn ranch has a cool back-story behind it, (Correct me if i'm wrong), Ulysses, the other courier lived in it. I'm kind of split between these three homes.
I've also discovered a cool home that's pretty close to goodsprings, its a half-plane right next to the Yangtze Memorial. It has a double bed, some cabinets, and a workbench in it. And if you don't like living out in the open, or don't like having to go through a casino to get to your house, just buy a Novac hotel room. it's nice and cheap, and is a good home

The Sniper's Perch near Cottonwood Cove is one of the better "housing" areas. Nice view and convenient for "farming" Legion ears.

Abandoned BoS Bunker, has plenty of storage, workbench and reloading bench, shelves to display weapons, and it has a vending machine for every need.

Traditionally I've used the hotel at Novac for all the reasons that have been previously discussed. Lately I've been testing the containers at Mountain Shadows Campground to see if they're safe. It has a great view, is in a fairly convenient location, and is nice and quiet. Has an Airstream trailer and a campfire for cooking up my gecko steaks and mass purified water. If the containers test out OK I may just move in all my stuff from Novac.

Having said that, I've never heard of the floating scavenger place and I'm going to check it out forthwith!

It's an interesting location, beds and storage floating out in the lake... but beware the respawning lakelurks. Always zone in locked and loaded. And it probably would make for interesting mornings, if you woke up on your matress with one of them green boys lookin down on ya like a tasty hors d'oeuvre.

I used Mr. House's penthouse for a while now, and I love it! It is huge, light flooded, you have a lot of space to display stuff and it has enough storage possibilities.

And on top of that you can tell all of your companions to wait at the Presidential Suite. It's perfect for me

My favorites are:
-188 Trading Post. Use the the suitcase in the trailer for storage. Has a reloading bench, a campfire, a walking workbench (Veronica), and seceral decent merchants.
-El Rey Motel (Room with the christmas lights). Nice and bright (which is rare for player housing), near McCarren, close to New Vegas, and plenty of fiends to hunt.
-Large building across from Mick and Ralph's. It's in Freeside (one of my favorite places), near good merchants, near good doctors, and no loading screens. You can use the four ammo boxes for storage.
-Scavenger's Platform. Probably the coolest player housing in the Mojave.
-Prospector's Den. Cristmas lights, and a merchant.

But what if you decide not to kill Mr. House, or install Yes Man? When I tried living in Mr. House's penthouse, I just got creeped out by the fact that whenever I went to bed, Mr. House would just be staring at me :o

I've actually grown quite found the the REPCONN testing site now, got to fight a few Ghouls whenever I want to leave but the place is a damn fortress; it'll keep all those NCR Rangers from finding me anyway.

I can't remember what it's called, I'll go wiki it and see if I can't get you an exact location if you feel like checking it out, but that floating scavenger island. It's basically four shacks, on a floating scrap island. I love it, I wouldn't live anywhere else. If I didn't have mods. :3

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Scavenger_Platform you go. On occasion, some Lakelurks like to respawn on it, but as long as you don't fast travel back when you're almost dead, you'll be fine.

I checked it out after reading your post, and moved from the Lucky 38. Cheers mate

My plasma minefield will tear through your armour :P. Besides, one Ranger isn't going to stop the destroyer of the monorail, the murder of over 100 NCR Soldiers, Hanlon, Hsu, Hildern, Moore, Kimball and Crocker; the posioner of the NCR Sharecropper Farms with radiation, the man who rallied the Kings against the NCR, the orchestrator of the Forlorn Hope massacre, the man who literally liquidated the Crimson Caravan and Gun Runners, the killer at Boulder City, the memorial defiler, the man who destroys the head of every victim... the NCR's burned man, the man known only as 'The Subtler'.
