Best Platform to Play On

Post » Wed Dec 30, 2009 12:14 am

Dude, no matter what platform...you'll always encounter the whiny 12 year olds.

Actually, PC is the platform I never encounter whiny 12 yr olds, for the simple fast that headsets are not mandatory to chat.

Acutally, I'm just working/saving money to get watercooled gtx480...

my pc is so old and cluttered so i play in my laptop. it is not as easy but you get used to it after a while

i was so dumb i actually thought such a huge fanbase couldn't be wrong...
c&c renegade is still a whole bunch more fun than most of the new FPS-titles
and if i pull in bf2 it's an overkill

Usually if the fanbase is TOO big, you know something is wrong. Halo is a good example of this, and rap music.

I think the controller preference has to do with hand size. It dates back to the SNES vs Genesis days. People with smaller hands liked SNES controllers, and people with bigger hands like the Genesis.

When the original xbox first came out, people with ginormous hands would undoubtedly choose the xbox over the PS2, Dreamcast, or gamecube. Why? Have you seen the duke controller?

But throughout official controller history, the PS2 controller beats the rest hands down. It has the right weight, and it feels nice. The problem with the 360 controller is that, it fits too nicely in your hands. For me, I don't like my hands to sweat when I play games. The 360 controller does not allow breathing space between my hands and the controller, and thus, I sweat. The PS3 controller does not totally fit in anybody's hands, but is meant to be held so that there is a gap between your palm and the controller, thus your hands don't sweat.

But so far, I am into handheld games. Just started getting into it.

Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head with that.

P.S. I did have the original Xbox and holy crap those controllers were huge! lolz. I was really young, too, when I played the original Xbox. So, yeah I know what ya mean.

I always preffered the Genesis controllers over SNES, and I have small hands. I also have no idea what you're talking about with the whole "sweaty hands," syndrome. Maybe you have some type of gland disorder....

I'll say PS3 for now, cause my lil laptop won't be able to handle this game, if it can't smoothly handle the left 4 dead 2 demo.

Maybe it's because I use thees http://www.kontrolfreek.com/Game-Controller-Accessories/KontrolFreek-FPS-Freek.asp

Since my thumbs are raised, the only part of my hand that really touches the controller, are my knuckles and fingers - my palms are free.

I voted for pc.

Although I also own a PS3 and 360, they both have nothing on my PC in pretty much every regard bar a few select games like Gran Turismo and Forza, which is pretty much all I got my PS3 and 360 for.... (damn you microsoft and sony and your platform exclusive games)

There are a few main factors for my choice tho

- The mouse + keyboard combination beats a gamepad and auto-aim hands down for skill factor + ease of use factor + feel factor.

- the upped graphical and CPU power + driver / hardware upgrades, hence the ability to future proof your game + use much higher res textures and the latest improvements in shaders / rendering techniques when they become available, not when i get my next console :P

- the ability to make my own maps and use them for personal use or spread them online

- the ability to actually change the game with an SDK and create my own mods which could be classed as totally new "games".

Take a look at Alien Swarm which is a mod from the urrrrr Unreal engine is it? or the HL2 engine? can't remember off the bat.
Its basically a remake of an old classic that a group of modders created thru an SDK and some time/skill.

Sorry but I cant do any of that on my 360 or ps3.....yet anyway :)

PC. How the heck are you supposed to aim at people with any of these PS or Xbox sticks anyway?

I'll be playing on the PC. I've actually had some idle thoughts on getting a PS3 but it would be mostly for casual gaming and a few platform exclusives. I can't stand gamepads so I wouldn't want to play Brink on anything other than a keyboard and mouse . . . . or maybe joystick and mouse if they include that option but it's so esoteric few games do.

thanks guys. it seems like there will be a fairly even amount of people playing on each platform. im lookin forward to sein you all out there. gl hf

The forums aren't representative of the eventual market but it is cool to see the forum population so evenly divided :)

with auto-aim ofc, how else?

Or iron sights. I was never a fan of iron sights until I tried playing an FPS on the XBox 360, suddenly the feature made sense! :)

Definetly PC. Mouse and keyboard, high resolution, awesome community and many more reasons.

I would really want to get it for PC ( Hopefully by then I'll have a new GFX card and some extra ram) but if things don't turn out how I want them to I'll end up getting it on the PS3/360 depending on which console's community ends up being bigger.

Building a new pc?

"Building" is a subjective term, since all I'm doing is looking at things I want online and just staring at them. By the way, the $1400 I need, isn't even for a whole PC - just the parts I need. It''s probably rounding high, just wanna be safe.

Voted for PS3. I've been using the PS controller for 11 years now, no way I'm ever changing.
