Best practices for adding multiple NPC creatures to the map?

Hello! I have a new little creature that I want to litter around the game, everywhere from towns, to dungeons. There would end up being hundreds of these if they were hand-placed, so my question is, what is the best route to do this? So far my options seem to be:

  • Hand-place them (tedious and lots of edits to lots of cells, which could OK since they are small)
  • Make new spawn points with new leveled lists (any downside to making new spawn points in cells?)
  • Spawn them in a new cell and place them with script (?)

I'd like to avoid scripts if possible so nothing gets baked into a saved game.

Thanks in advance!

The only way to get the results you want is to hand place them. Afterwards, use TES5Edit to look for any erroneous or dirty records in your plugin.

What do you mean by spawn points? Like the insect spawners? If you wanted your own you'd still have to hand place them. Unless you mean adding your new creature to existing insect spawners, in which case it's important to keep in mind that they're designed for small flying creatures. (insects)

If you used script you could use http://www.creationkit.com/AddForm_-_LeveledActor . But yes, it has its consequences.
