Best Race for a beginner in Elder Scrolls

Post » Mon Oct 17, 2011 9:16 pm

Haha nicely said, here is not a "best race" imo, especially for beginners. A beginner in Morrowind should try the races based on what class he likes to play, for a better start, but in Skyrim that's pretty much gone :(

Pick the one with the simplest racial abilities. Imperial has a passive ability to find extra gold, so it's probably the easiest since you don't hvae to worry about when to use the racial spells.

Imperial, Dark Elf, Argonian that's where I'd start and see what happens.

Any race is safe nowadays for a new comer he/she won't notice the difference. I'd pick Argonian but that's just me in love with their lore :frog:

To answer people my mate isn't really intrested in classes, hes mainly just looking for a race where he can play through the game without having to start again when he realises the class he does eventually wants, dosen't suit the race he chose. So basically, most balanced race.

Either Argonian or Dunmer I think. They're the two most balanced races. But I guess preferences aside. Its a bit of a coin toss.

Dunmer get fire resist, a once a day fire power called "Ancestors Wrath" that shrouds them in fire or something, and probably have the most diverse skill line up. Argonians get water breathing, once a day power that boosts health regeneration, and disease resistance. Plus they get a skill line up that supports mage, and assassin gameplay. But they both make good fairly balanced races.

But Dunmer is bit more balanced I think.

Edit: Oh I guess you can add imperial as well. But they're balanced in the fact that they aren't really that good at anything besides talking, and selling stuff.

That's pretty much why Todd wanted to do away with the classes. You should excel in every custom class with every race you pick. Like they said, it's about what esthetics suits you.

They're all balanced (or at least they should be). You can become anything and everything with all the races, there's no restricting factors. And if he really REALLY is disappointed for some weird reason on the race he picked, there will probably be mods that allow you to change your race if you play on PC.

He said it's more a aesthetics choice, not entirely. There are still racial bonus.

And do those bonuses go past 100 in skill? if they all max at 100 any character will be like any other at some point.

Hobo Khajiit is the best Khajiit.

Shrank due to obnoxious size.

No he means bonuses like fire resist, or water breathing.

Nord, Orc and Redguard are just warriors really.
Altmer and bretons just mages.
For diversity, Argonian for magic and stealth, Dunmer for spellsword with bow as backup, Bosmer for stealth and archery, Khajiit for stealth and melee, Imperial for warrior with persuasion and the ability to get rich more quickly.
