Which race makes most sense to be Dragonborn? Please give valid points and don't just say your favorite race. Details, please.

Probably nord, lore wise it just makes the most sense. I mean, it;s hard to see an elf as a dovahkiin. Also, Talos was a Nord Dragonborn.

It would probably make most sense being a Nord. However I prefer choosing an unlikely race just for fun, that and I don't really like the Nord race that much.

Reman Cyrodiil was also dragonborn, so imperials would work, but Nord still makes more sense to me

This may sound like a cop-out, but when they say "be who you want", that really is the point of the Elder Scrolls. Not preventing warriors from picking locks, thieves from casting spells, physically weak Elves from using two-handed hammers. Seriously, any race makes sense. Leave 'it should be this race, it should be class' for other games.

I have trouble with any race but Argonian breathing fire. Just seems wrong that a race with a beard or fur could pull it off.

It's gotta be a Nord for me, just seems most likely since the setting is Skyrim and all that jazz.

They are not breathing fire they are using the Thu'um which projects fire from it. Not the same thing as actually breathing fire.

As for what race could be the Dovakhiin, any could really. It makes sense for it to be a Nord in this story, but it is a blessing of a god, not a gene of a race.

I made a thread similar to this a while back, so I've spent quite a while discussing this with people. In my opinion, either Nord or Imperial make the most "sense", but really it's possible for any race to be Dragonborn, according to lore. I could be wrong of course, but I'm fairly certain about it.

That's pretty much how I see it too.

Nord warrior because it makes the most sense. Assassin or mage dragonborn doesn't work very well, and Skyrim is all based around the Nord's stories.

Nord or Imperial, based on lore of the past. Although I really do think it's more appropriate for High Elves.

Nord probably "fits" the best but if the gods wish to bless a Bosmer with Dragonblood who am I to argue.

Don't you all know that only Hispanics can be dragonborn? People need to keep up with the lore...

Nord. Both the lore and some of the presentation make others a little weird.

By presentation, I mean even the title song. lol. It sounds like some wagnerian like procession of a Nordic king. I try to picture a bosmer in that procession and it makes me laugh.

edit: Not that I'm happy about this...

No such thing as "Best race". Every race is capable of having dragonborn. Dragoborn are just mortals, born with the soul of a dragon.

The ones who would make most "sense" in the matter of bieng expected are Imperial, Breton and Nord.
Nord because of their traditions and reverence of the Dragonborn.
Imperial because both Saint Alessa and Reman Cyrodiil were Dragonborn.
Breton because the Arcturian Heresy claims Talos was in fact a Breton named Hjalti Early-Beard, who was named Talos then took the name Tiber Septim. This may not be true, but IMO it cannot be ignored. Link: http://www.imperial-library.info/content/arcturian-heresy-0

It doesn't claim he was Breton per se, but from High Rock.

Not that I'm saying he isn't Breton, but they left even that open ended. Even his name is still Nordic (Hjalti).

Obviously a Nord.

Each game is built around a default race but gives the additional option to be a different race.

I've been lucky as my main character has always been a Nord. In Morrowind it suited for the Bloodmoon expansion. In Oblivion it was good for the Night of the Nine & in Skyrim its centred around Nords.

I actually didn't notice that unitl now, though Breton still makes sense.

Not this reply again. >_>

OT:
Imperials, Nords and possibly Bretons.
Also, there is a chance that Khajiit are related to Ka Po' Tun, a cat-like race from Akavir which can turn into dragons (a rare and hard, but possible feat), but I don't think that it has anything to do with being a Dovakhiin.

I find playing the main quest with any character which isn't a Nord just to seem less realistic. Yes, I know it's a game and so isn't realistic but it just seems right for the Dovahkiin to be Nord. They are the native race and I believe Talos was a Nord.
