Best Race

I say dunmer, unless your definition of "warrior" is a pure mellee character that can absorb and mash everything, then I'd say an orc. The dunmer has a good combination of skills, archery, various forms of magic, especially destruction and alright fighting skills(blade and light armour being special, with a bonus of 10+ each). The stats are well rounded and not too good in combat, but the varied stats can create a good class with lots of skills, with a combination of these skills, a dunmer character can be as powerful as any warrior, but many times more versatile.

Bosmer. Pincoushion 'em with arrows and then dice them apart with a shortsword. Epic.

Bosmer. After several characters with many different fighting styles, the sneak attack archer seems to be by far the most powerful and effective in the majority of situations.

Redguard.

The weakest areas we have are magic and archery. And that's compared to races designed to do one or the other. The basic point is that we can do sneaky. We can do fast. We can tank. We're also so good with blades that we make the Ginsu chefs jealous. Redguard, because we can sneak-kill our way to Arch-mage in heavy armor.

Breton! They are best suited for everything. Magic is without a doubt the most powerful thing in the Elder Scrolls, and through it's use you can shape yourself into almost anything - including the most unstoppable warrior around.

So, a high potential for and defense from magic is the best thing you could have.

To me they are all equally useful. For RP reasons playing them in their recommended roles is OK but in gameplay I do not find any difficult playing a Nord spy mage or a body building Bosmer.

I seem to be the only one who voted for Imperial.

I honestly don't know which my favourite race is. I tend to play Imperial, but that doesn't mean that they are the best, or most interesting. Hmmm, I think I'll have to go for Altmer, Imperial, or Dunmer.

a "warrior" isnt someone who is pure melee, a warrior is one who fights. thus, anyone could be a warrior. but, in terms of melee warriors, they dont have to be giant brutes either. its not about how hard you hit, but your skill. what good is a warhammer if it doesnt hit? so id say a more agile race, khajiit or argonian, maybe bosmer. preferably one who is also adequate with magic...

Breton + Mundane Ring = 100% magic immunity.

In my opinion, Dunmer make great Battlemages, Witch hunters and other hybrid classes due to their unique mixture of skills, resistances and attributes.

Seems like just about any race can be a warrior. I made a list here of what would be suitable for decent warriors and which cannot:

Altmer
** Argonian
Bosmer
Breton
** Dunmer
*** Imperial
* Khajiit
*** Nord
*** Orc
*** Redguard

come on now give our discouraged bosmer friends some credit now they become incredibly skilled swordsmen even if they will never look like a viking warrior from hell chasing you with flaming spears of well lit ****

Bosmer's and Breton's I both believe wouldn't make suitable warriors based on the fact that they are typically caster's and rogue's. I'm not saying that they wouldnt make for great warrior's but then again you could mod your way to play as a mudcrab and give it's blade skill up there and call it a warrior as well. Lore dictates that these 2 races that people disagree with me most about being warriors are actually caster's and could at most be a "battlemage". All in my opinion though the list is how I perceived the races for a warrior class.

I have a hard time swallowing the idea that bretons don't make good warriors. What about the whole they've been at war with each other for ages till the end of TESII? What about those who fought in the War of Bretony? What about Cameron the Usurper? Did the soldiers just happen to be Colovians?

Indeed..I'm sure there are soldiers and warriors of every race. Game mechanics make Bretons out to be spellcasters, and though they're born with a natural affinity for it they would certainly have standing armies as well.

Even the haughty Altmer have a grand navy the likes of which can barely be contested at sea by any other force. A group of people without a military is a vulnerable and short lived group of people.

I'm going to say Orc or Nord. I love them both. But my personal bias goes to the Bosmer.

Redguards are obviously the most superior warriors - anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional.

That being said, I voted Argonian. Huh...

If the redguard weren't so split, they could have easily repelled the Empire, even without a navy or wimpy magic. Heck, the empire was only able to take over the redguards because half the population allowed them in, and even then it wasn't so easy; they have to call in a [censored] dragon! Mighty Tiber really lucked out when he did.

The redguard are by far the best warriors, lorewise.

When I saw that I immediately thought of an Orc.

I immidiately thought of the Bretons, which can be made completely resistant to magic. 4EVAR.

But I voted for Argonian, so... :(

Redguards by proxy; they share the closest connection to the Yokudans, who are indisputably the best warriors Nirn has ever seen.

"Surahoon," he said, "We are the ansu, the greatest warriors that live in men. Our swords sent the Left-Handers into the oceans, whose empire was four times the size of the white king. When we fight, our swords can kill the laws of nature itself. Yokuda is as you see it because our hira-dirg swords can cut the atomos, the uncuttable, and we did."

I think it becoming to "which race is ya favorite" poll, again. From past observation, Redguards are not really a popular choices as a race in these poll, not to mention Dunmer seem to be the top race in this poll, again.

If the redguard weren't so split, they could have easily repelled the Empire, even without a navy or wimpy magic. I just love their lore about their past, especially the sword-singers. Their swords are freaken lightsabers! Can't get any more awesome then that!

From a guy who likes playing a Redguard, I think lots of other races can be better.

Honestly, that damn magic resistance gets me every time!

Luckily, my redguard stealthy mage can beat your ass eight ways to Sunday every time... after training under the Destruction master.... which took a day or two to get the money...

Well, it depends on whether we're talking "best race in lore," or "best race in game mechanics."

If it's the former, then I feel my sentiment still stands; the Yokudans and by proxy the Redguards have a history of violently powerful sword-wielding that others would be hard-pressed to match.
If it's the latter, then generally speaking all races will eventually make a great warrior character. Some races will be better or worse for a warrior class in one game over another, as the racial bonuses are altered and rebalanced in each game. So determining which is best for a warrior class will largely factor in the slight advantage of starting attributes and racial bonuses, coupled with large quantities of subjective personal opinion.
