Best Side Quest Mods

Post » Sun Jun 12, 2011 11:23 pm

I want to add some side quest mods to my game and I am looking for some direction. I want to do quests that have a story, that are fairly long and involved. I do not want a quest that goes to one dungeon and in an hour, poof it i done.

Please list some of the better quest mods you have played. Thank you for your input.

Kragenir's Death Quest. It involves a lot of NPCs in the vanilla game, and is wonderful.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have downloaded the mod and will be starting it soon. Any other suggestions?

Thanks again in advance.

http://tes.multimediaxis.de/?go=dlfile&fileid=349. 80+ quests 60-100+ hour playtime, several great storylines, extremely fleshed out characters, unique and interesting quest/gameplay structure with choices and consequences, multiple solutions, skill checks, riddles, think-outside-the-box-situations, and much more.

Recent quest mods that look good, but I haven't really been able to try (for the past year my computer access has been stunted a great degree):

Dark brotherhood renewed (I was able to try this one, it's pretty decent)
northern front
golden crest
Nehrim
Claudia's little Secret (I have played this one... it's one of the better, and slightly more believable "six quest mods")
Gweden Brothel (Theabove mod reminded me of this one, basically a business style mod where you recruit actual prosttutes for the vanilla location... I've played this one, it's decent.)

Keep in mind that Integration has a couple requirements, though, and one of them is a rather hefty download.

EDIT: And before I forget, you need SI for Integration, as well.

Ugh. I wanted to install Integration: The Stranded Light, but it requires the Race Balancing Project, and I use COBL Races.

Nehrim isn't exactly something that should be listed in side quest topics. That's a total conversion. It has zero to do with Oblivion other than using the engine.

You can always switch. COBL races is basically an outdated stripped down version of RBP. If you're using a COBL races race you may have to use the showracemenu command to get the same race again in case something got screwed up, and the update console command for RBP. Beyond that there shouldn't be any issues.

Methinks I will.. But I do use a COBL installed race(the Tabaxi-based variant) as a PC.. Will I have to start over from the beginning?

Not quite sure... you could always try to load the save. I think cobl races might use the same Id's and such as RBP in which case it might transfer over seamlessly.

If you wantedto be on the safe side you could do something kind of complex....
http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Console#Other_Commands
Spoiler
If you want to save your current skills, you'll have to open the escape menu without clicking the final "done" button, save the game through the console ("save test") and then reload it ("load test"). After the reload your race and appearance will be changed like you wanted them to be and your skills will not be reset. WARNING: Using this command while wearing bound items may crash the game.

change to a vanilla race
install RBP
showracemenu
change back into an Ohmes-raht(Tabaxi)

Probably better to just see if it works without having to screw with your race multiple times because that could cause problems; or just start a new game. My only experience with this is when I changed my race from Ren's mystic elf, to RBP's Hidden elf, but in that case I had both RBP and ren's installed at the time, while that's not really the best idea with RBP and COBL Races.... On second thought-- I dunno I guess that could work.

OK. Got rid of COBL Races, and replaced it with the Race Balancing Project, and was able to load my save game with no(mostly) problem.

moving discussion of problem to it's own thread, so as not to derail this one.
