If you get aggressive, I'll just pull out my sniper and shoot you...
Oh wait, there are no real snipers in this game ^^

hey
i was wondering what would be best for a sniper playing i.e light because it could get to the pot quickly but die in one hit or maybe tank that is easier to spot but could possible take two hits instead of one what do you guys think and p.s first time post on brink so sorry if being stupid and excuse the name lol

A lot of people are saying lights because they move quickly but actually, lights can only use SMGs and sidearms.

Your wrong good sir. The short rifles are light weapons.

why is everyone making crazy plans and predictions about what they're going to do?
and why is everyone underestimating the SMART abilities of heavies and mediums?
in the container city videos it shows a heavy vaulting and getting up kind of high

Because, now these are quotes, "climbing over a 15 foot wall" and "vaulting over waist high rails" are two very different things.

Hmmm I wonder.

Heavies can use the SMART one anything at waist level.
Medium can use SMART at anything eye/head level.
Lights can use SMART on anything 15 feet above them.

There will of course be ramps and stuff but there are areas that only lights will be able to access.

I'm surprised no one's flamed the [censored] out of this topic... very surprising...

Anyways, i'd say probably a light, for mobility, or a medium, since you WILL get into CQB and could use a more powerful weapon up close. Heavies just wouldnt have the ability to keep on the move enough...

Heavys can still move pretty fast. They can jump over anything waist level. Watch some of the videos!

I think Heavies would make the best snipers - they stay slightly behind their team, weakening incoming enemies, and their increased hitpoints help, since they are down near the main battle. Lights can get to high vantage points, but they go off alone and have low health - this could equal lots of down time, and depending on their location, harder for medics to reach.

Do we know if there are locations only lights can get too? If there is the right amount of ramps, stairs, and properly places objects, heavies could get anywhere lights can. Has it been confirmed that lights can get to places heavies can't or is that just peoples claims because of the description of how SMART works.

good point
The supposed recon awesomeness of a medic light and the solid defense of and engineer heavy could make or break an uncoordinated 8v8 attack n' defend game

If this were not the case choosing the body type would be a die fast or die slow option, If there were no light only flanking routes heavies would nade launcher flank the crap out of people from even the hardest places to get to.

When was this confirmed. I always figured that they could just go faster and jump higher. But if there were objects that heavies could use, they could get to the same spots. I didn't know it was gonna be designed so lights could get to places no one else could. I guess it doesn't matter as long as it doesn't interfere with main objectives.

One of the main tactics for Lights is flanking, so having access to parts of the map no one else does, helps with this. Plus, having crap health, you tend to not want to travel where Heavies are lurking.

Perhaps through really clever SMART usage, a Heavy may find access to somewhere the developers didn't intend them to go, but I don't see this happening much.

It was confirmed when we saw gameplay, when there is a 10ft hig vantage point with no ramps around it its obvious it was meant for lights only, but grenades could solve the problem quite easily realy.

A Heavy can only climb over things around waist height. Do you really think the devs are going to arrange it so there are multiple waist high obstacles, stacked in such a way that a Heavy can go where he pleases? Also, making Heavies able to go anywhere Lights can go, gives a lot less incentive to play Light.

I really don't have a habit of making stuff up. I mostly report what I have read in the past.

Exactly. Why would lights travel in the areas where heavies have most of the advantages? As far as extra heavy move grenade jump maybe? Also by lurking you mean camping right?

One that comes to mind was on the CC vids. The player follows a bot over a wall that no heavy would be able to vault. The rest of the team is trying to blow open the door so the rest of the team and get through.

- Body types will determine what obstacles you can get past. If you’re a big strong guy, you can use SMART to climb over things that basically come to waist height. If you’re a medium, you can get over stuff easily that comes to eyeball height. And if you’re a little guy, you can climb up stuff way above eyeball height. Remember, we’re a first-person shooter, so I tend to think in terms of what you can see onscreen. So the type of character you are really effects what the SMART button allows.

Most of what has been said so far is more than valid; additionally, I could see Light as being useful to move from spot to spot. This is definitely a more CQB-based game and being able to change positions frequently to avoid having what happened to the guy at the beginning of the "Jah Lick Them With Thunder" trailer happen to you would be advantageous to say the least. That said, if you were an engineer, I'd consider going Medium because you likely wouldn't be running around as much.

I don't know maybe a medium could get up to the high spots by a chain of complex climbs and wall hops but a light could just jump straight up.
