Best sniper rifle?

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 10:03 am

I've had the Reservist's rifle for a while, and it's great. I just stumbled upon the Victory rifle - cool. Unfortunately, I/m going to have to use one to rebuild the other. The question is, which is better to have, and why?

Save both. Try using a hunting rifle until you can have someone repair the other two, or find some sniper rifles and do repairs yourself. Another alternative is a scoped .44, it's not as steady as a sniper, but at least it's scoped.

I would definitely save both of them. And the Victory Rifle is better because it has a knock-down effect whenever you get a crit or something like that.

Both have the same damage rating, but Victory has a larger magazine (5 bullets instead of 3), so Victory Rifle for me too.

Yes, save both of them. I choose Reservist's every time though.

Reservist has bigger Crit Chance and Victory has knockdown. It's all about preference.

I did keep them both. Love the sniping, but even w/ 100 in my dude's repair capability (plus the bobblehead, Red Racer coveralls, numerous Guns & Bullets read, etc.), additional sniper rifles for overhauling are few & far between. The Lincoln Repeater or Ol' Painless just aren't the same, if you want to 'reach out & touch someone' before they know you care!

There is one reliable source every three days for a sniper rifle near Megaton, and one one-off unique place for another, also near Megaton.
The former is located in the hands of a raider sniper who sits on top of the broken overpass just west of Springvale. She has lots of friends, so watch out.
The latter is I guess a spoiler.
Spoiler
Just south of Megaton on your local map, about ten yards off the southernmost part of the Megaton Wall, is a rock flanked by two dead, small trees. Look in there. This is also safe storage all game long.
