Some of the games I've purchased on Steam in addition to Skyrim:
Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition
Mass Effect 2
The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition
Fallout 3
Fallout: New Vegas
Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
Alice: Madness Returns
And, of course...Morrowind and Oblivion
That's almost like asking "What are the best PC games?"
Assassin's Creed
Bastion
Bioshock
Crusader Kings 2
Dark Souls
The Longest Journey
Mount & Blade: Warband
The Walking Dead
FTL: Faster Than Light, L4D2, Don't Starve, Fallout: New Vegas
Do you prefer any specific genre?

Mark of the Ninja
Portal 2
Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic I & II
Tomb Raider (2013)
Total War: Shogun 2
Trine 2

Terraria
Mass Effect 2
Age of Empires 2 HD
Without a doubt, the best Steam games are Bridge Construction Playground, Bat Rats, and Drunken Robot pormography.
This game actually is good. If you play it with the right mindset and were expecting a stupid game to pass the time with, that is. If you wanted a serious goat game, this isn't the game for you.
Psychonauts
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream(highly recommended if you like point and click adventure games)
The Bard's Tale
One Way Heroics
I got to play this for 15 minutes or so last night. It seems fun, but I didn't get to play long enough to make a call yet.
Goat simulator is great if you are drunk or expecting the stupidest game ever.
I love it.
I don't consider Medieval 2 Total War to be a genuine Steam game, because it was released before Steam even had its first Total War game title and that was Empire Total War.
I like both X3: Reunion (I still have the original game Elite in which X3: Reunion is based on IIRC) and the Silent Hunter game series.
I would probably play Shogun 2 Total War more often than I do today, but I find it hard to get myself into the game and then I stop playing yeah even try to understand it.
Empire Total War are probably my favorite Steam game.
I recommend Terraria and Banished. Both are great games, and have the benefit of not being expensive, so buying them is not a big gamble.
Goat Simulator is also a good choice.
Oh, I should take another opportunity to pimp Grim Dawn. It is by the makers of Titan Quest, and is like their previous game, only darker and more mature. Without trying to be edgy about it! It is only 2/3 complete right now, but you can get it on early access for something like $25.
Okay, I have to know, who actually wants a serious goat game?
I can think of one member on here who has a love of goats.
Are you expecting some specific answers? I mean, there are A LOT of games on Steam. Bah, I'll just read off my library.
Mount and Blade: Warband (highly recommend)
Don't Starve
Hotline Miami (highly recommend)
Killing Floor (addicting as hell)
Red Orchestra/Rising Storm
Crusader Kings II
The Binding of Isaac
Risk of Rain
Guacamelee!
Civilization V
Company of Heroes
Gunpoint
I play a lot of indie games on PC these days. And a lot of the time they're really good.
For me it was best when playing co-op campaign with friend. Single player campaign or random online battles didn't draw my attention as much as co-op. Soon, I'll probably start another co-op campaign, this time in Rome 2.
It seems that many good games have already been mentioned here, but I highly recommend Peggle. It's radical.
Depends what you like but for RPG fans - Shadowrun Returns, Baldurs Gate Enhanced, Age of Decadence. At least those are what I have and play. Also Dota 2 being the most popular game on Steam, very addictive.
