Best Tactic against Poison damage

Post » Sat Dec 05, 2015 10:24 pm

Have a question regarding poison damage. I play on survival and some bugs spit toxic at you and it drains your health slowly. The problem is stimpak's don't stop the bleedout. Only way of dealing with this problem is taking Buffout and nuka cola quantom. Is there any other way? Thx in advance

I got armor from a bug that has 25% resistance to poison. I almost never take poison damage now.

Sneak attack, being quick with VATS, and/or Chems. Never even get hit anymore unless the target is invisible.

Dude, use JET when your fighting bugs that do poison damage.

I also found a piece of gear with poison resistance for my character but as you said its tough to get stuff specific like that.

But pretty much I use JET against bugs cause they are small targets that dodge so much.

With JET it feels like cheating sure but its not like its a real common item either. Slows time down so much its super easy to land shots with.

yeah, more when u face Legendary poison bugs. Since each success attack increases the speed of the poison, each time u heal u increases the heal speed time too. (fail to said early i was on survival so dealing with the healing over time mechanic)

"spit toxic"

The bloatfly is a joke. Now... those [censored] legendary bloodbugs and higher legendary radscorpions... Those svckers can drain 50% of your HP (even at level 83 which I am) with hardly a single hit.

The best defense is a good offense. Kill the [censored]ers before they get to you. Every enemy in the game that has insane poison damage is a melee enemy. The bloatfly, like I said before, is a complete and utter joke.

I've said this before. Can take out the whole Prydwen no problem. Stingwing? Dead...

My strategy for it is to just have a "run the [censored] away" approach.

I kill them first, in very hard/survival I always move 50-100 meters then spam vats key to see if anything is close, then move another 50-100meters. If there is I back up and take out fatman and nuke them, overkill but there are nearly always three bloat flies which unless one is legendary they get one shotted.

re fatman

Spoiler
there is a raider power armour wearing npc near the first farm mission you do that you can easily acquire the fatman from early on in the game. He patrols a walk way behind a sign in the town that is below the factory you are heading too

Is there no antivenom in this game? That's what I used in NV for those damn cazadores and radscorpion stings. I am not super far into FO4 yet so have not yet encountered poison bugs, but it sounds like antivenom is a no-go? Seems kind of silly that they have poisonous creatures with no antidote. Someone should chat with the folks over in Vegas.

Yeah, stingwings are the cazadores of this game.

As mentioned, use Jet, even Psychojet when facing legendary versions. I have like hundreds of of those, mats are easy to come by.

Nerd rage, time slowdown @ 20%> health armor perk, hotkey stimpack to #5 on keyboard for fast heals. But, that's my solution to basically everything, haha.

Is anyone really short of Stimpaks by the time you first reach Diamond City? If you are, you should know that cooking can provide some decent healing that is good to use outside of combat (and save the Stimpaks for combat / limb damage healing).

I've fought two Mirelurk Queens so far and they are most definitely not melee enemies :) Incredibly tough because one blast of their poison spit was enough to kill me on survival, even when I popped a stimpack. I don't remember if I had other food items to stack up the healing. I've also seen Mirelurk Hunters which do the same poison spit.

As far as a tactic against it - I mostly use my helper as a meat shield and/or find a place where I can break line of sight and chip away at them.
