Best TES Game?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 7:34 pm

most people on this forums have only ever played oblivion, and a handful played morrowind aswell.

And that's why this poll is in favor of Morrowind. :homestar:

5 Septims says a "what was your first Elder Scrolls game" poll would correlate with the "what is your favorite" poll.

Only played Morrowind and Oblivion, each of them has strengths and weaknesses but I think Morrowind is the better game overall, with a stronger story and more layers of substance behind factions, politics, culture.

I played Both of them to Death. Each of their Expansions...I literally pimped out my House of Hlaalu as much as I could untill the Evil stupid Loot Bag showed up. I played Morrowind on PC and on Xbox. I liked Xbox the most, but once I started downloading mods from the community I was on my PC more thanks to Starcraft/Diablo.

Morrowind for me:
Dark Elves-Heavy Armored Magic user. LOVED the Conjuration creatures. Loved enchanting [censored]. I was the Xzibit of Enchanting.
"YO DAWG I HEARD YOU LIKE GUARDING! So WE ENCHANTED YOUR SHIELD WITH SUMMON DREMORA, SO YOU CAN HAVEA GUARD WHILE YOU GUARD!"
The Magic = Better in Morrowind.

Oblivion: Better Ranged, and Better Melee. NO STUPID...."You missed" <----BS. Look...Just because I have a 0 in Spear Skills Doesn't mean I MISSED. I LITERALLY stabbed some guy, and it misses.. Game Mechanics in Morrowind were not as fun as Oblivion.

If they could:
A) Put Morrowind in Oblivion's Game Mechanics and Cities. Seriously, Re-make Morrowind into Oblivion's Game Design. It will sell, and it will be great. Possibly Game of the year.
B) Put Morrowind's SPELLS in Oblivion. I miss Levitate damn it. =/ I used to Levitate all the time. Going Over Red Mountain was fun. NOW the annoying BIRDS...THOSE I could do with out!
C) Put Morrowind's MUSIC in Oblivion. The Musical Score while traveling I could listen to all day...long.

Then Morrowind would be top for me. Like some one else said: Oblivion had better Polish.
You had Mounts, You had Instant Traveling instead of Having to remember every five minutes to put up Mark and Recall. You didn't have to deal with Rats and Crabs beating the [censored] out of you at low levels. <---That was just ridiculous. My Warrior HAD to use a Fireball majority of his begining fights...So I stopped being warrior ish in Morrowind. Which was a HUGE let down. You had So many weapons to choose from, but [censored] if you can't use um, or have to spend alot of money training them. =/

Morrowind to me, WAS the best, Oblivion hit it up a few notches even though where Morrowind had better, Oblivion made it better for me in other modes that...well...Make it top. DLC like Battlethorn castle where it gives you a non-glitched home, helpers, Etcs...like Skingrad's home = epic. Houses in Morrowind...Hlaalu was good, small...but good. You needed the Creator thing for PC to really make that shine.

The One thing I liked about Morrowind was...It really did CATER to Magic Types. I wanted to be a caster in this game. And the Swapping of outfits, Adding Shoulder Pauldrons, I always did the basic Brown Robe with Orcish Spaulders. Pants usually something heavy and enchanted, so was chest piece...but I liked the Robes looks + Spaulders.
---------
To the people being negative saying "Oh the only way people voted oblivion was because they played it first or didn't play morrowind at all", I'm the Exception I guess...or one of few.

I swear to you, I must have wasted most of my highschool in Vvardenfell on Xbox Alone, how much I must have not gone to bed or only had 3 hrs sleep due to building my own ish/looking up mods for PC version...Morrowind PC Creator = Sims 2 on Cocaine for me. I didn't even bother with Oblivion on PC due to Computer not being upgraded. :( no monies thanks to crap happening.

Morrowind still sets a benchmark for me in culture, lore, interesting story and ease of modding - it's a very accessible game and as addictive as skooma

Yeah, that's a very important, and complete voice-acting surely has complicated things a lot, in the later games.

I love you.

:3 Glad you enjoyed it.

I loved that Aspect of Morrowind. The Enchanting was Endless with Moon and Star. Oblivion...still had it's weak points.

But Like I said...Morrowind Favored Magic Users. Oblivion Favored Combat Characters I think with the Game Mechanics.

Hopefully Skyrim will favor all the three archetypes, and I'm looking forward to the borrowed stealth mechanism from FO3, and the different awareness states of the enemies.

My the way, IMHO, Morrowind favored both fighter and mage types, but you had to work harder at first, then it would become easier.

Especially if you had Lilarcor in your arsenal. ;)

I can't say which game favored magic users more, but I can say this: Oblivion is the first RPG I've played that, for me, made magic actually fun to use. I tried playing a Mage in Morrowind and did not enjoy the experience, at all. I thought Oblivion's implementation of magic was terrific.

Definently understand your opinion...but I've played every type of character, and Iv'e said in another thread...I've gone all through out morrowind with out dying or having to pause/load save, untill Gaenor...(Shutters), I've beaten Dagoth Ur with a Monk/Unarmed style character (It was a B-------) with out cheats. Combat is good in Morrowind...just...not as good oblivion where if I pick an Archer type at the begining...and I HIT some one with an arrow....It still HURTS them, there is no "missing" unless you did not hit the guy literally, where as Morrowind....
You can swing that spear/JAB the mofo in the face and because of game mechanics...you won't hit them still.

I hope it will favor all three aswell. That's the good thing about Fallout series, Guns and Melee were done equally. I've made a Pistol user, Sniper Rifle User, Energy Weapon, Melee AND Unarmed...and all of them did well from begining to end. Melee/Unarmed Stealther took awhile, but even at the begining it worked.

Morrowind's magic was...almost near endless. Where as Oblivion it was tough to do any really Crazy HIGH end spells that could one shot a high leveled daedra, atleast it was for me. Like the Amount of MAgicka needed was WAY to high to make a really fun spell I could easily get away with on Morrowind.

Morrowind was...like the Diablo 2 Jamella Editor (For nerds who don't know what that is...you could literally Create an Charm and it would increase your Mana to damn near endless lol it was cheating....) minus actually cheating. You literally could Enchant MORE peices to give you more magicka to cast such nasty spells...It was fun to play with. :D

Right now, my favourite is Oblivion, but it jumps between Morrowind and Oblivion every week or so. When Skyrim is released, I'm sure it will become one of my rotating favourites.

I'm not going to bother voting; I have images of Morrowind being thousands of leagues beyond any of the others in these polls.

Oblivion was my first TES, and in my opinion there is nothing like your first game in the series. Morrowind never really grew on me I'm afraid.
