Best TES Game?

Post » Sun May 29, 2011 3:06 am

It always strikes me how whenever I start playing a new TES game how much I fall in love with it. This has got me thinking, is there really a best entry in the series? I mean, each game seems to improve or at least react to the previous title, and each offers many quality aspects in different ways. I recently started Daggerfall thinking I would be hard pressed to like it, but I find myself being lulled into its magic.

How about all of you? What do you think is the best/ultimate Elder Scrolls game?

In my opinion, there is no ultimate Elder Scrolls game. They all bring something to the table that the others don't have or just do differently.
I do like the modding possibilities of the last 2 (released) games though.

Gotta' go with Morrowind.

It's the perfect mix between the classic games and Oblivion.

Morrowind. Skyrim could be the best one when it comes out, atleast I hope so.

Same here. I can't see it changing to be honest. Morrowind will always have that nostalgia for me, every time I load up a game it feels like I'm coming home. And for a game where I play a grey skinned woman who can summon giant bipedal crocodiles and lives in a mushroom, that's saying something.

Battlespire. It made the :tes: formula we know today, hand made stuff instead of empty randomly generated world + the one and only :tes: multiplayer game.

This
I have my favourite (Morrowind) but theres aspects of the other games that I'd have liked MW to have
I very much doubt its possible to make an ultimate game that would please everybody and have all the features different people find important. Something I like someone else probably hates and vice versa and such a game would take forever to make and cost a fortune

The thing is, they are all great games. So, saying one is better than the other doesn't mean that i think the others svck. Having said that, here is my list:

Morrowind
Daggerfall
Oblivion
Arena

I also played Redguard. Which i liked very much.

I voted for Morrowind. In fairness though I've only played Oblivion and Morrowind, in that order. Here's hoping Skyrim is even better, but Morrowind is a hard act to follow :shifty:

I voted Oblivion. Though Morrowind gets gratitude also for doing a lot of things better than Oblivion in in my opinion.

It will be interesting to get another poll up a few months after Skyrim is out.

I've played Oblivion, Morrowind and Arena. Morrowind is the best TES game I've played. It has the best factions and, despite several game mechanic issues, is still quite playable even today. Hopefully Skyrim will be more like Morrowind than Oblivion as far as factions go.

I only came into the Elderscrolls at Morrowind, so ony have this and Oblivion to compare. Although I did and sometimes still do enjoy Oblivon, It will never replace my all time fav game, which I stll play regularly between new releases of other games.

I have tried the earlier TES games but not keen on 100% 1st person games, and the attraction of both Morrowind and Oblivion was the availability of 3rd person playing.

I voted Oblivion. It was my first and the game that made me fall in love with gaming again. I see each game/location as a new chapter in a single story just like a book and I'm glad to be a part of it with my gameplay. I don't doubt for a minute that Skyrim is going to blow everything away that came before it as long as the story is gripping. And I say this expecting some bugs. ick...but I still think it...we'll get past those with patches and mods.:)

Hey, did you notice that in the Skyrim Countdown in my sig that we've broken the 200 day barrier? :D Still a long way to go but we're in the 100s!

Exactly. :tes:

 Morrowind was the first RPG game I played and since then I'm completely stuck to the Elderscrolls series. :tes:
