Best of the little-known gems?

Oooh, that.
I use the Bashed Patch Function that does that. Camera tends to fall down to the ground at my feet after a little bit, but it's long enough that I can see my killer take my weapon. That's the main reason I use it, really. If I see my killer take my weapon, it drives me mildly insane, and I have to go brutalize them a bit. I will often place a arrow through their lung, and watch them svck in a huge amount of air, only to have it lost from a svcking wound, and they die oddly fast afterwords. If they are a vampire, I roast them something fierce, just to show them who's boss.

Good stuff all around :) I've divided the Cosmetic mods into Environment and Loot. Plan to do the same for 'Creatures & Loot' + 'Dungeons, Quests, and Houses'. Not sure how I'm going to better organize the Overhauls and Miscellaneous. I should clarify that I do have to draw the line somewhere. I consider mods like ALYX and Sliverware Weapons to be fairly common. And I'm still being loose with the rule, since I linked to (what I believe) are very common mods like Get Wet and More Poisoned Food.

The difference being I can't remember the last time I saw the latter 2 in a load order, while I know I've seen the former 2 in a few places. The Underdogs thread remains at the top of the op. I'll try to go through it the next time I update. I'm starting to think this thread was a terrible idea. I'm supposed to graduate this semester, and now all I can think about is how much cool stuff I have yet to experience in Oblivion

There are two little known gems I keep in my load order:
Arrow Enchanter... (this one seems to have been taken off of Nexus, for one reason or another. I can't seem to find it with a search. Anyone that knows of a link, please post it.) Allows you to enchant vanilla arrows with alchemical ingredients.
[edit]
Found the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionmods.detail&id=548 on PES.
[/edit]
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3530 - The Dark Elf's ancestor guardian levels with him/her, growing more powerful as the character advances in levels.

And my own little toy:
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20956 - Allows you to make lockpicks out of Steel Arrows. Designed primarily for low level characters (level 5-10 'ish...)

Fair enough :P I'm only linking mods that I havn't seen in (m)any other LO's, and expect you to use your own judgment anyway :P Suhweet :D

Psht, real life; I gave up on that when I started following politics :P

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19067 A mod by CLShade.

Basically, the more you use a weapon or a set of armor, the more accustomed your character is to using it, which gives you benefits on multiple different levels.
That was horribly paraphrased, just read the description on TESNexus for a better one.

Wrye Bash can actually help you with that, quite possibly. At least, it'll probably be easier to do than going through everything individually in the CS and changing where resources are found. I once made a Bash Script for mgkAr that did something like that.

Assuming you have any interest in doing so.

Really? That's very interesting. :)
I'll go dwelve myself in Bash's manual. I indeed still have interest in doing so, but doing it manually didn't motivate me much. :P

Thanks DragoonWraith! :goodjob:

And thanks Immortal-D for making a list of it! I didn't have time to update the List today, but I should be able to do it tomorrow. :)

I've enjoyed the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionmods.detail&id=4451 mod by Colt17. It makes the different kinds of potions different colors, making them easier to find at a glance, especially if you use a grid system inventory.

I'm a big fan of http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionmods.detail&id=4729. It adds 16 more hotkeys and it brings up the same kind of visual interface for them that the 8 original hotkeys have.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionmods.detail&id=1037 is another favorite, adds a bunch of new sigil stones for you to find, some of which are actually worth using!

I also never play without http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=oblivionmods.detail&id=360 by daleth. I don't know if it counts as "little-known" as it has over 6,000 downloads, but it's still a really nice mod. I like being able to fast travel to way shrines and doom stones - there are less monsters hanging out there that want to eat my horse.

http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22326 also "adds 16 more hotkeys and it brings up the same kind of visual interface for them that the 8 original hotkeys have", but does a bunch more. Admittedly it's a bit buggy in places, and is too popular to qualify as a "little-known gem", but you might want to add a reason that doesn't also apply to a more popular competitor. (full disclosure: I wrote Super Hotkeys)

Likewise, http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7341, based upon the mod you linked, is more popular (by download count anyway) and more recent (and is available from tesnexus, which I have an easier time with than PES). Why that one?

I feel like I've posted this before, but I find that I like http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15562 along with http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4804. The armor and weapons work together very nicely, but I don't often see them mentioned. :)

EDIT: I find that together they give a very ranger-esque feel to your character.

I didn't link to those because I hadn't seen them yet - probably because I search PES a lot more than I search TES Nexus. Thanks for the links :) I'll check them out.

I love these threads. Every time I read them I find new mods to enhance Tamriel. Damn the 254 mod cap!

OT: Mimics! seems to be a critical darling :celebration: It may not remain an underdog for long.

I don't often see them mentioned.

These are certainly great mods, both of them, but I hardly think either of them are 'little known', to be honest. Addonay's mod has been downloaded 156 thousand times from Nexus and has been a "Hall of Fame" award winner at PES since 2007. Shdw Armor has been downloaded 16 thousand times from Nexus. But we'll leave it up to Immortal-D to make the call since it's his thread.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15677 is a wonderful little utility mod that prevents script (usually sound) effects from firing endlessly due to mod clashes and coding issues. I seldom see this one mentioned, until somebody shows up frantically looking for a cure for repeating cannon sounds or some such. Then this gem is trotted out, once more.

No offense, but that's an understatement. Especially when you use casting hotkeys.

But I still use it despite its flaws. :D

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20652. I can't believe only 2 000 downloads, this is one great mod. Very interesting.

Yeah, Super Hotkeys has by far the best feature set in the genre, but the bugs are numerous, particularly in autocast hotkeys. OSR requires a rarer skill set, seems to be more valuable to users, and lets me use C++ & asm instead of the construction set, so most of my attention goes in to OSR while the SH bug reports mostly just pile up.

Just wow, lol :o In addition to all of the stuff you guys have posted, I also linked Decorator Assistant under the Tools section, with a couple of personal pictures. There is so much cool loot available, yet we only ever see pics of characters and nature. I'm going to leave out the hotkey mods for now, since no 1 is popular enough to overshadow the others. Included the vampire fix, seeing as it's possible someone out there still doesn't use the Unofficial Patch and/or Wrye Bash. In regards to Shadow Armor and Elven Weaponry, I have to agree with Pseron Wyrd. Were this a thread for 'very best of the most popular mods', those two would be at the top of the list :P

I am now honestly scared of playing Oblivion again, because I fear the impact it will have on my already limited free time  Testing even a quarter of these mods would eat into my school/real life time. Actually making a few characters with different mods/skills would preclude the possibility of me ever playing another video game, lol. Oblivion Mods; devourer of free time and bane of your social life.

Bumping this with a personal favourite on my LO.

Its very unknown that even BOSS dont recognized it.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=6131

Alternate start mod + main quest delayer + main quest rejection.

You start at anvil, you can start from level higher then 1 .. this is based MOE main quest delayer ... however, compared to MOE mod which forced you to act out of personality(if you RPing a good guy) by committing crime in IC, this one make it so that will get arrest by performing a quest (visiting Temple of One) - you get accused of a false crime and send to the starting prison cell.

The only thing about this mod that since its still early version 0.81, so it havent got a pre MQ Kvatch, so Kvatch gate are simply locked out.

You can also rejected the main quest after giving the amulet of King to Jaufre if you so chose.

Not compatible with the latest Kvatch Aftermath version btw. As both changed the MQ script.
