But we know from the PGE 3E that the Nerevarine did, in fact, complete the prophecies.

So what I'm saying is that his Khajiit is not the Nerevarine. His Khajiit didn't do anything except smoke skooma.

Dagoth Ur was also insane. I always denied I was the Nerevarine because I still don't think the PC is really Nerevarine.

I think that if the player fulfils the prophecy then he is the Nerevarine.

To tie this back to the OP, you can't really know if a character is alive or not unless it is confirmed in dialogue or some other manner. Most people have probably killed Fargoth, but that doesn't mean Bethesda considers him to be dead. It is also possible that Fargoth died in the time between Morrowind and Oblivion and Bethesda hasn't told us.

Tru dat. I feel like the fact that you can wear Moon-and-Star cements that enough. I don't recall hearing anything about the others getting to the point to where they try on Moon-and-Star.

Plenty of others have reached the point where they try on the Moon-and-star. They died. Who made up the prophesy? Azura. Who said the only the true Nerevarine can where the Moon-and-Star? Azura. Who resides in the cave where the ring is held? Azura. And who appears when the PC puts on the ring? Azura. I would be less suspecious if we didn't know that Azura was so scheming and manipulative and willing to do anything to get here way. It's very possible that Azura just waited till a time where what she wanted was possible and let a person she approved of become the "Nerevarine." It fits perfectly into her personality.

She didn't seem so scheming to me.

...is that not the Nerevarine then??? Whoever fulfilled the prophecy is the Nerevarine. There is no way to dispute that, regardless of Azura's "meddling." She created the prophecy; she can really meddle all she wants.

I just don't think my character is the Lord Nerevar reborn. I think that Azura was trying to use the collective memory of one of the greastest Chimer heroes to destroy the Tribunal and send the Dunmer people back to her. And Nerevarine means the reincarnation of Nerevar, so I don't think the PC is truely the Nerevarine. They fulfilled the prophecy, but is not the Nerevarine.

Out of curiosity, why don't you think that the character is Nerevar reborn?

Like I said, the fact that he can wear the ring says something, and I honestly don't know how or why Azura would tamper with that enchantment. And the Nerevarine is the one who fulfills the prophecies...which he does: he did everything Nerevar did, almost identically up to his death.

He/she could be, but he/she doesn't have to be. I think it is up to player. My PC were never the Nerevarine. I believe that Azura was just scheming to take out her enemies. Yours could be Nerevar reborn. The thing is that it was never confirmed to the point where you could deny that you were the Nerevarine to Dagoth Ur.

Nerevar and the Nerevarine had very, very different lives and very, very different accomplishments.

Wow, no Gaiden Shinji yet? Semi-surprised, I am.

Why no Frandar Hunding, even. And not even so much as a mention of the Hiradirj.

Assassin: Tiber Septim

I understand that the best assassins are the ones who's crimes go unproven, but there's also the possibility that its unproven because he didn't do it.

That's a possibility, but I never said he committed a crime, and assassins aren't always illegal.
