Best way to use Ugrids?

Post » Tue Oct 27, 2015 5:47 am

I have a new and powerful computer and want to utilize Ugridstoload. What is the best way to go about this? Are there mods and what edits in the ini do I need to make?

Best advice is not to touch ugrids on a playthrough, otherwise for screenshots ok.

Best way? Leave it at 5. All the hardware in the world doesn't change the fact that the engine itself just wasn't meant to have it higher than 5.

I was going to post a detailed post but this forum will be taken offline sometime soon and isnt searchable soo stuff it ..

Dont do UGrids. Bad juju. Scripts and quests firing too early messes up timing.

I've been playing on ugrid set to 7 with http://www.msi.com/product/notebook/GX60-Hitman-Edition.html#hero-specification. My game is stable but I use very few mods, mainly made by myself. No lag, no stuttering, no ctd whatsoever.

You don't need mods to do that, just open the Skyrim.ini that is in My Documents/My Games/Skyrim and add the line:

[General]uGridsToLoad=7

Resetting this line to 5 during a playthrough is tricky but possible. See for yourself. :)

Never had any problem with that.

What others said. Changing the UGrids is always a gamble. It risks too many things.

There are more risks using multiple mods than modifying the ugrid.

Thats because you never noticed anything going wrong

Timing of scripts and quests firing is important, only recently someone was in the USKP comments saying something like

"Something wrong with the game with USKP installed, some NPCs are supposed to do stuff but they have always finished before I get there"

"Did you do UGRids"

"Yeah"

"Plonker go away"

Advising it is irresponsible even if you have never seen its effects. Its because people dont realise what they are advising is bad and others read it that we have topics like this quite often.

Yes so you have said before, but not having the USKP does not mean you will not have the same problem with the games vanilla timing of scripts and quests.
