Best & Worst

Post » Thu Aug 11, 2011 9:41 am

IMO, I reckon there are too many pessimists and not enough optimists on these forums, so I thought i should make a thread asking what everyone's favourite thing they've seen in the previews is. But in an effort to not seem biast I also thought I should ask what people think is the worst thing they've seen is.

My favourite thing i've seen so far is the unscripted dragons, dragons rule.

The thing i dislike the most is the fact that you can't block while dual wielding

And just for the record, i've informed everyone i know that i won't be available for at least 3 months after Skyyrim is released :user:
Thoughts? :liplick:

Favourite thing so far, either landscape design or finishing moves; can't decide between the two :ahhh:

Least favourite thing is the blank page when i look for a picture of a Skyrim Argonian :swear:

Best: dragons...especially love the animation where they're on the ground scrabbling along on their wings after you, like the bit in the extended demo (the one we all havent seen) just before he goes into bleak falls barrow. Made me jump when it just landed really fast and out of nowhere. Reminds me of the dragons in reign of fire.

Worst: Nothing really bothers me that they've taken out really, more fool me maybe, so i'll say just buggy stuff like the moonwalking bandit. Some of the textures look a bit lo res (the sleeves on the dunmer pic, the carpet from that pic of the long haired fella with the grey eyes - weilding a hammer?) but i suppose that's par for the course for consoles.

To be honest, the only good news I've seen so far is that the Dunmer won't look like fat-faced thirteen year-olds in Skyrim (Oblivion epic fail there).

Least favorite? The entire development direction of the TES series (this will be automatically replaced with "Steamworks" should they announce that it will be a Steamworks game).

I actually think they pretty much fixed that, like the giant that got owned by the dragon in the quake con demo.
I mean I didn't see the demo cause there were only illegal films of it :whistling:

Least Favorite: The wolf frantically chacing the rabbit offscreen, then when todd turns, they're just standing next to each other, leading me to think this is some scripted even for the demo.
Most Favorite: The size of Riverwood, if thats a small settlement then i'm excited to see what the cities will be like.

Favorite: The epic feel of the game. There's something akin to standing on the precipice of a tall mountain (pun?) with a surge of adrenaline when I watch the demo videos. It feels like the climix of the saga thus far.

Least Favorite: The hype is a bit much for how long there is left. I mean, the demo itself is only late alpha which means there's still a bit of development left (beta testing and bug squashing). Had the hype started, say, in October, I'd be better prepared to wait. Of course the other downfall of hype is that it raises unreasonable expectations. We get so wrapped up in how we feel about the game before we even realize what it is. Still, I've just gotta sit back and wait three months until I hear my CE at the door.

Worst: The physics are still not as convincing as I'd like them to be. NPCs seem to go completely weightless when hit by the lightning spell and fly off, then there's the falling. Personally, I think the gravity needs altering imo.

Best: Well, that's got to be the Dragons. I think the team responsible for developing those did a first rate job.

Best: They took out only having 7 major skills to level up.

Worst: Waiting for this game.

Favorite thing: Gameworld design (includes physical world design, dialogue, ecology system).

Worst: Removal of the old attribute system to this pathetic new one combined with killing birthsigns and skills.

My best is easily how the bows are looking, (although only limited footage has been seen)

Worst has to be the removal of birthsigns.

Best thing: hand-crafted dungeons (closely followed by the improved character models, and the new inventory)

Worst thing: Lack of attributes, athletics and acrobatics (closely followed by the forced 3rd person finishers, markers, and merged armour)

Favourite thing? Too many to list. Worst thing? Grass fade in distance is too short and level of detail pop-in.

least favorite is the removal of some things that were in oblivion and morrowind, look like they remove more and more things since morrowind, like skills, weapon types etc...but oh well we cant have everything

The best thing, in my opinion, is the new UI.

And the worst is that all armour still looks very ugly, with low-res textures and very few polygons, despite the fact that they merged cuirasses and greaves.

In that one video... y'know that one? It clearly showed finishers in first-person. Don't sweat.

They wouldn't make that kind of thing up. they just wanted to give you a taste, even if it meant to artificially do it. You will see that kind of a thing on rare occasion in skyrim, don't worry.

Worst thing I've seen is by far the horses. They look just as clunky and unnatural as they did in Oblivion... Bethesda needs to go ask Rockstar(RDR) how to make a proper video game horse...

I've absolutely loved everything else I've seen about the game. Couldn't be more stoked!!!
