Best 3D: Xbox 360 or PS3?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 1:16 am

Uh... if it'll halve the 30 FPS framerate of the Xbox version, then it won't be playable. So I'm calling BS.

Edit: FOR ****'S SAKE!

If you are going to play the game in 3D on a console, which one offers the best 3D? I understand the side-by-side method the 360 uses will halve the resolution, but has it been verified that the PS3's high speed HDMI cable solution is superior? Because if it's not, I'd rather get the 360 version. Not sure if anybody here knows this aside from the devs who probably know the answer but wouldn't want to highlight any differences between the two consoles.

Cryengine 3 uses it's own built-in Stereoscopic 3D component which gives you Stereoscopic 3D at only 1.5% performance loss instead of the 50% loss using the conventional method of re-rendering the second frame again

even with or without 3D, Crysis 2 runs at 30FPS 720p on both XBOX and PS3 versions

30 FPS is enough to play the game fluidly, Movies at the cinema play at 24 FPS yet they don't look choppy, why? because they use Blur to make the frame-to-frame transition more fluid, and thats what Cryengine 3 do, so even if you are playing at 20 FPS, you won't have a choppy gameplay due to the blur in-game

Oops my bad, I meant the 360 version halves the RESOLUTION, not the framerate. I'll fix the original comment.

I know the 3D only creates a 1.5% hit... forgive me for mispeaking. What I need to know if anyone can confirm that the PS3 will offer the best console experience when playing in 3D. Because if the 3D isn't better on PS3, I definately want to get it on 360. I've been having a terrible time with the PS3 demo.

It's the same across the consoles. The PC has better 3d though (since it can use nvidia 3Dvision).

Why did you think this was only between the PS3 and 360?

We kinda already knew that.

I am not interested in the PC... my PC can't run this game. I asked about the consoles, and you just wanted to chime in to remind me that PC gaming is always better. I get it.

FYI The 360 uses side by side 3D, which halves the resolution of the resulting image. This is necessary due to the fact that the 360 can't support high speed HDMI cables, unlike the PS3, which has a software solution enabling full 720p 3D. But the 3D was of low quality in the console demos, presumably to limit the download size. What I'd really like to know is if anybody knows if the finished product would be better on the PS3, or if the
