That article doesn't say anything about the beta in August -.-
However, a multiplayer reveal seems like a good time for Crytek to finally release the beta.

Because the only thing this article says is that the multiplayer is going to be shown at gamescon in August. It dosen't say the beta will be releaset in August. It just says that we probably wont see any beta before gamescon.
And btw, they annonced on twitter that they are going to show MP on gamescon. Just look in the top right corner at the frontpage

if they show online multiplayer at gamescon.. it probably means that there's a closed beta at that time so there are players playing it.

It's a possibility, but I doubt it will be the case. It will most likely be a demonstration rather than testing it out.

As a BETA, you need alot of time in order to find bugs, and to test out the game properly. So I believe they aren't going to let people test it out for bugs, but rather, show the MP component in general.

Also, thread title is misleading.

Talk about a misleading thread title. I can assure you that the beta isnt coming in August. That just makes no marketing sense whatsoever. Expect late September to bring a beta, or maybe even later.
