Beta for DLC is finally running..

Post » Thu Mar 17, 2016 8:43 pm

Hope it is short run and we get some DLC goodness soon!

"And for those of you participating in this week’s closed beta for Fallout 4’s Automatron DLC, you’ll have access to a private forum where you can discuss and share feedback directly with the community team and Bethesda Game Studios."

We know it will be a week long, as they have already announced that they are releasing it on the 22nd.

Yeah, the new Bethnet forum went live no doubt to accommodate the beta - there's presumably a private forum for the beta, and a general discussion board for the rest of us. It's awkward, too, some of the new users are confused and posting about the beta in the general forum instead of the private one...

It might be prudent to make an account there now, since eventually this site's going to get shut down and we'll all have to move there... but that'll be a few months at least, and the new forum is very much in the teething stages. So if you don't have the patience for a new-fangled forum that still got a lot of kinks to iron out, maybe put it off...

The best part about the new forum is that it's so confusing, people are posting beta feedback all over the place.

Just a quick question as a person who doesn`t know better...

What`s the point of beta testing after setting release date of content less than a week...?

Are they still gonna fix things as glitches are found in beta test before the release?

Well, I am guessing there's already been a lot of inhouse testing... Oh, whom am I kidding? It's Bethesda, it's gonna be buggy as heck. And it'll be quite a while before everyone can use any "Unofficial Automatron Patch" that may come along. Especially if you are playing on console where the ability to use mods will probably be limited but come out after when mods will be officially supported on PC version.

I would guess it is a marketing gimmick, designed to get people to register for bethesda.net, and talking about the dlcs. There is no way that they are going to fix anything that is raised due to this beta, as it seems to take 1 to 2 weeks for them to get patches through Microsoft and Sony.

I would like it if Bethesda would invite new Beta applications every day. If they already have the Season Pass what is the downside of it? People who get it feel special and the imaginary customerbond with Bethesda would strenghten with those players.

Probably not, but they will have a head start so it should take a week less time to fix whatever.

Agreed on the "It's Bethesda, so...." takes.

They're looking for game-breakers, not all-encompassing bug fixes. If you think otherwise, five months after after the base game launched, go try and get more than two of the level 4 merchants to show up anywhere.

Damn lucky beta testers, they used to be one of us. Now luck at em, up there in their ivory towers, with their private forums and fancy pants, looking down at us. Mocking us they are!

What me? No, I'm not jealous at all. I'm happy for them, yep . . .

Indeed... it appears that they are testing the new Survival mode there already. ;)
