Beta in the wild.

Post » Thu Apr 08, 2010 1:18 pm

It seems like some beta keys are being sent out to some European PS3 fans. Check your inbox!

EDIT:
Hi there

This is a private beta under strict NDA and will not be made available to the public or press. The private beta is for technical testing purposes only and not for gameplay evaluation. Should anything change, we will let you know.

So there you go.

I hate it when Betas come to consoles, if the game is multplatform. Imho it's way easier to do proper testing on the PC, because you can access the files.

Aside from my statement above, this smells trolly.

Eh, let it come to all platforms, more testing to be made if it is multi-platform

Yeah, maybe.. Didn't they say they would'nt release a beta or a demo? Maybe I got to psyched :l

Have some faith. Nothing has been officially announced yet since this is so recent, but I have examples of people asking or getting in. You can also search on Twitter for the word Brink and find a few others.

The events will be held on the following dates:

- Tuesdays and Thursdays for the duration of the beta trial. Please see the forums for further details.

Each event will run from 20:00 to 22:00 UK time.

Wouldn't that mean the first playtest could have happened today, btw? And it'd be over for ~30min by now.

First Beta-Gameplay incoming on youtube riiiiiight naaaooooow....

Makes sense that it is a beta for console, if ps3 code is as alien as people say then I guess they want to get rid of as many bugs as possible for the ps3 version of Brink.

Though.. I wouldn't mind a PC beta either

The game is under NDA. So expect videos of it to be taken down pretty fast.

EDIT: Guess not. Just did a search for it on youtube and got a 7 minute video of gameplay. It's been up for like a month.

If a company wants to contain NDA leaks they can do it pretty well. You can get a youtube video taken down pretty fast. I remember how hard it was trying to get good accurate information of the APB beta for most of its life.
I think we're pretty safe here though. If a gameplay video has been up for more than a month of youtube I doubt they care all that much right now.

This has been up for a month. Either they don't care or they never took the time to look (this was the fourth option down when searching for Brink Beta Gameplay).

That was an official demo from E3 2010. Yes, they can contain videos, but people will end up talking to their friends, who haven't agreed to an NDA, and they will just repeat it all. Might not be "good accurate info" but if you hear the same thing enough times it starts to become plausible.

Huh, it does look like this is going forward but I'd certainly be more comfortable if there was official confirmation.

The NDA still does it's job then.

The information you're talking about is not all the reliable and happens with any beta regardless of how the codes are handed out. You can get a vague general idea of the quality, but the amalgamation of a bunch of different hyperbole-ridden opinions from different forums really doesn't present a clear picture.

There seem to be a lot of fuzz about it on various websites. I guess it's legit after all.
Next question: Who get's selected? I heard only EU players (like me :D) but do you need PS plus?

Well, I don't think the guys at Splash Damage knows much more than us, or well, they posted this in a thread http://n4g.com/news/664414/psn-bethesda-releases-a-ps3-beta-for-brink/com

Pretty much confirmed that the PS3 guys gets a treat, yeah?

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm just wondering, will it be only for PS3 players from the EU as it seems to be the case right now, or will it spread to other platforms and regions?

I dunno about moving to other platforms, but it wouldn't surprise me if it stays in EU, they are based in UK afterall. Doesn't mean it wont make me sad if I have no chance to be included though.

Yea, me neither, but I'd love to pick up some info, even though they are not allowed to leak.

Also, I'm glad that's it's not ALWAYS North America that gets the good stuff ^^ (Even though I want to move to North America)

I like the line:

"The beta is only for betatesters..."

That's some good information!
