You have no idea how Steam works if you actually think it would be a bad idea to put all of your mods there.

1) Valve will never charge for Steam workshop.
2) Putting your mods there will allow end users to keep their mods up to date without having to worry.
3) End users will be able to pick and choose mods from mobile devices and they'll be ready to go when they get home.
4) Mods on the Steam workshop will be easily accessible to the entire Skyrim PC userbase, and not just the "few" (few is relative to the low number of downloads to sales ratio).

Chances are I probably know more about how steam works than you do since I've used steam on and off since it was released, sometimes begrudgingly.

1. That's a hope not a fact.
2. Only if all mods were updated at the exact same time and work with the current version of the game. Otherwise, worry.
3. Installing multiple "major" mods to a game and actually have them all work right isn't going to happen from a smart phone.
4. Easily accessible does not equal easily doable.

Putting mods under Steam's care all sounds so simple, but its really not black and white... there's a whole lot of gray.

If its like other games it downloads just by having Steam open unless you have autoupdates turned off in the game.

So Steam Workshop would agree to host any kind of mod, even some that can be dubbed as offensive ?
So Steam Workshop can manage mod compatibilities ?

I have a feeling that Nexus will not really be endangered... we'll see.

I prefer to avoid using Steam more than I have to. It is nice but it is corporate and as such one can expect moderation/control on the hosted content. And I don't know how this would compare to the moderation on Nexus, relating directly to the variety of mods that can be found on these distribution platforms...

For me, this is just Steam trying to get even more involved in our gamers life, little by little. Better not put all your eggs in the same basket...

I think the big change is this:

Continued Game Updates – This week we released update 1.2 across all platforms, and we’ll be releasing an incremental update next week. We anticipate it will be up on PC first, and then hit PS3 and Xbox 360 later in the week. Among other things, the update will fix issues like magic resistance not calculating properly and the rare, amazing backwards flying dragon. Once the update is released, we’ll share the full release notes.

After the holidays, we’ll continue to release regular updates for the game — through full title updates, as well as incremental “gameplay updates” to fix whatever issues come up along with rebalancing portions of the game for difficulty or exploits. We plan on having a lot of these, not just a few. Overall, you should expect updates to be hitting the PC and Steam earlier and more often, as that’s a process we control. Console updates will follow, as they must be certified and processed by those manufacturers.

Does this mean Skyrim is the first Bethesda game getting long-term support?

As the poster who brought you the 200+ post count

"It's time to make a statement Bethesda..."

and the 127+ post count

"It's time to make a statement Bethesda... [2]"

which was closed upon Bethesda making referenced announcement, I would just like to take a moment to say to the community...

You're welcome.

I won't be installing the patch for a few weeks after its live to see how it goes for people. I have worked around using Steam as I find it intrusive as heck so the patch wont be forced on me at any rate. As another stated, the mod manager at nexus is nice so I will stick with that, I trust it.

Better if 1.02 had not been released to begin with... So they smashed the coffee table and will fix it next week, we're supposed to be thankful?

About time we heard something. Hopefully this patch will be good!

Well seeing that they posted this http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1300562-skyrim-what-were-working-on/ yesterday...Still, I figuered we wouldn't be left out in the dark, this ain't UbiSoft or E.A. after all! BTW, I like the idea of easy mod installations as this should help with removing/BAK most mods, I'll most likely use this method on the more stable/"big name" mods, unless it needs SKSE or SKGE then it's third party all the way!

I reall hope I will be able to install large address aware patch and HD texture pack early next year, if they pull this off through Steam.

So this is a big thumbs up from me!

At last all the anrgy posts mine included, could have been avoided if they had come out the day following the reports of 1.02 messing the game up and said, ok we know about it and are working on 1.03 to fix this ..

Oh, you mean if they'd spent the time pointing out the obvious?

I think it's interesting they make clear mention that they plan to work on skyrim long term and thanked us for supporting them with the game and what it "tries" (Interesting Key word) to do.

I don't think number three will happen. Microsoft wouldn't like it one bit.

As stated in the blog, patches released through XBL and Sony have to be validated by the respective companies where as Bethesda controls what goes on Steam for official updates. This means as soon as the patch is complete all three are released. Since Bethesda controls the Steam content the patch will be available to PC immediately but the versions released for XBOX and PS3 will not be immediately available because they have yet to be validated by the containing service. Just hope the SLA provides a short time to availability.

So what bugs will 1.3 introduce? I learned my lesson and have my files backedup will only update betheseda patches in the future after 3-4 days have passed after release, after the custumers do the beta testing work for betheseda.

1. Sick framerate drops when entering the towns
2. Things flying around like crazy(ragdolls when you kill someone, or stuff inside the house)
3. Quest related stuff...
4. Sound issues on PC, thus being the sound too low even on max settings.
5. Certain quest events during the actual quests not triggering properly
6. Balancing loot and damage and health on NPC-s
7. Fixing magicka resist stuff and dragons flying backwards
8. And maybe soon preparing the game for first official expansion/DLC

I agree with those, except 2, 4, and 6. I think it's a bit early for those, but the rest of the points seem spot on.

I just hope they fix this stuff ASAP as well maybe even if they make one mega patch that just covers a whole bunch of stuff!
