Is beth in a corner now?

Mass Effect has been able to do it perfectly.

But, there is no 'lore' to ME either.

If you have the next game where you can upload previous choices to alter your next game, none of the games will ever be the same from a person to person basis, so there will no longer be any lore from that point on, because each person made different decisions than the next.

Hmm, good point.

Still, a man can dream.

Isn't it
Spoiler
a body-double that you manage to kill, with the real Emperor safe and sound? Or is that a point of the quest line, with multiple attempts on him until you get the right one
?

No, you actually pull it off, look at the 4th Era area in the lore section on USEP

Spoiler
4E 201 — Emperor Titus Mede II is assassinated by The Dark Brotherhood.

Well. Regarding the DB ending. Certain events...happened, that should give reason for the legion to pull out.

Agreed, its time for the Legion to leave

Er, Mass Effect has a lot of lore, unless you're using it to mean something specific?

Not that I'd trust the UESP on lore matters, but even so. It' not like it's unheard of for an Emperor to be assassinated (there were attempts on Titus I, but I don't think it's mentioned how he died), nor is it necessarily a bad thing for the Empire depending on who gets the throne after him. How old was he? Did he have a wife? Any heirs? Being good tacticians seems to run in the family, so the next heir to step up could finish the play Titus II was going for. Or if not, someone new could step in with a more pro-Talos outlook (bringing the Stormcloak rebellion to an immediate end), reinstate Hammerfell into the Empire, and go for an outright assault on the Aldmeri Dominion.

It's still very much up in the air without knowing who gets the throne next, and what the actual status is of the Empire's, Hammerfell's, and the Aldmeri Dominion's military might.

Or they could just have the Throat of the World collapse and kill everyone, or have Skyrim fall into the sea like Winterhold did, or some other event similar to the eruption of Red Mountain that basically took Morrowind out of the picture...

Spoiler

He's a rather old man. A shame, I felt bad for killing him. If he didn't have a child, it didn't matter.

On that note, I really LIKED Titus Mede II. All he asked was one favor, which I carried out.

> Stormcloaks win.
Aldmeri Dominion invades, not a man is spared.

> Empire win.
Legions are devestated from civil war and have no emperor.
Aldmeri Dominion invades, not a man is spared.

It's a win-win.
