...as for the FOV thing. Can someone explain why you'd want to alter that, at all? I honestly don't understand what use that is..... (doesn't it cause that fish-eye distortion when you expand the FOV? Seems like something to avoid.)
alot of games lately have this setting far too low, in that it creates a tunnel vision effect of your head being far too forward in that it feels separated form your body. having an adjustable fov ensures that you get the setting that you feel most comfortable with.
alot of pc gamers are even moving towards multi display resolutions in that if you use 2 or 3 monitors, the default fov would never be enough, because having 2 monitors at an angle on the side with a default fov would cause only the front monitor to display what you need and the other 2 would be near useless in that it doesnt provide a true angled image, while increasing the fov will correct this for multi monitor displays for correct viewing, and like i said before, in some fps games it feels like your nothing but a walking gun because of the fov beign far too small.
also one more thing, many games (bioshock and bf2) had incorrect aspect ratios, in that using a 16:10 or 16:9 monitor is supposed increase your viewing size on the left and right by a decent amount, but instead had aspect ratio adjustments that completely cut off the top and bottom of the screens view and to fit a widescreen view, and having an adjustable fov can solve these these issues significantly by panning the screen back out to fill the missing areas.
and its not an issue about spending time on it, its just a matter of getting it correct the 1st time, proper mouse controls is not a difficult thing, and even old games from the 90's did it better than most of todays games
