Bethesda and Obsidian should both make an expansion for the

I mean individually. gamesas makes an expansion, then they help Obsidian make one that'd be really different, instead of having them do an entire new game.

No. Bethesda should make them.

Make them all.

Why would Obsidian do this? They have no reason to. And it's not like Bethesda would ever let them.

I think Bethesda should do everything in their power to keep Obsidian as far away from The Elder Scrolls series as is humanly possible.

Howard himself has said Obsidian probably wouldn't be suited for doing TES. Fallout was fine as Urquhart has been around since Wasteland, Avellone for Fallout 2 and Planescape: Torment, and J.E. Sawyer for Van Buren, and some few others from FO 1 and 2.

TES isn't a franchise they know as well.

For now they won't be involved in any way. Not even an expansion.

I'd rather have a full and independent game from Obsidian. DLC's (which are the "expansions" of today) are just a waste of time.

No, I think all DLCs should be made by Bethesda.

Aside from the bugs, Obsidian made some really interesting content, that felt like a gamesas game, but had a very different flavor. Just take the time to think about it. For example, if they were to make a different province, it would feel completely different, as entering a different province should feel.

I don't want Obsidian New Vegas'ing all over my TES. If anyone but BGS ever makes anything even slightly related to TES, I think the outrage would cause the Earth to explode. May The Nine help us if that happens....

I thought part of the reason they did that was Obsidian has people that were developers on the original Fallout games. If they were going to do something like that with TES, maybe it'd work better with a team that had people that've worked on Elder Scrolls in the past.

The only studio that has ever worked on TES at any point in the past were Bethesda Game Studios themselves.

This.

I don't think I would trust another developer with Elder Scrolls.

You know, DLC is short for downloadable content. An "expansion" released today of the same magnitude of the "glorious" days going to the store to pick it up, would still be considered DLC. I,e Shivering Isles. - With the advent of DLC they can put out smaller stuff that wouldn't be worth the retail space. They can experiment. Being able to download the content has nothing to do with the size. If anything they can get bigger stuff out quicker now. No need to go through manufacturing all those discs and shipping them out. (Though most companies still do that)

But of course, if you think it is a waste of time you can always not purchase it. That is the beauty extra content. :spotted owl:

Care to explain why it'd be so terrible?

TES is a huge universe, and I think it'd be interesting to let some different minds be creative in that, and it would hugely increase the playability of the game, instead of going somewhere else and the quest feeling the same as the ones you did in Skyrim.

Not saying that they are a bad game developers but they are very unfamiliar with TES. FO:NV was fine but I will be damned if they touch my favorite game franchise....no offense to them, just want people that are really familiar with the game.

Bethesda and Obsidian are not like super best buddies that share everything. Obsidian will NEVER make an elder scrolls game.

Bethesda acquired Fallout, and Obsidian has some staff that have worked on Fallout games.

TES is Bethesda's IP and Franchise. No one will ever make a TES game but Bethesda.

Well, the idea I proposed in my first post was that gamesas would help them, for the sake of consistency, but for the most part let Obsidian get creative with it.

Pardon me if i'm wrong, but isn't that exactly what happened with Fallout: New Vegas? Granted I actually enjoyed that game but without patches, it was unforgiveably buggy and while that is not a problem for people like me who have an internet connection, not everyone does and it is those people who would suffer the most.
