So Bethesda... Any hope for Fallout Tactics 2?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 6:48 am

I was surprised they were willing to work Tactics into the canon. I was also quite please, Fallout Tactics really gets a bum rap much like Bethesda's own Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard. It's a damn fine spin-off and it's only through stuck-up 'fans' that they bombed.

So, here's hoping Bethesda let's someone have a whack at making Tactics 2, I'd like to see more about what happens to the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel.

I'd be first in line for a Tactics 2. I spent far more playtime on it than the previous two Fallouts combined, largely due to multiplayer.

Is the multiplayer on Tactics still able to be used? Is there a way to connect via IP? I think you had to connect to a now defunct online service to play the multiplayer, but I wonder if people could connect directly?

I loved Fallout tactics, the only real problems I had with it, is once you get the vehicles you cannot use them again for another mission, only out in the wastlands.

I loved that little dunebuggy and would have used that in every scenario if I could.

I'd love Bethesda to outsource Fallout Tactics 2 to Nival (the makers of Silent Storm). Since they're Russian-based, maybe they'd set it in Fallout universe's Russia? With socialist realism instead of googie and art deco, etc.

Beth cant make tactical games. Only thing they could do is outsource the license to someone else. As Ausir Nival is one possibility.

Let's hope. I've played every Fallout that's been released and I still enjoyed Tactics. Never got a chance to experience Multiplayer. It did sound fun being a Ghoul or a Dog though. Didn't think it was as bad of a game as everyone says.

Tactics was the best of the series for me, I was and still am, a big fan of the X-com type tactical shooter.

I only wished they would have been able to finish it properly, instead of rushing it for release. All the fallout games could have been really amamzing had they been finished.

I was able to use it as of a month or so ago, but I connect over a LAN. I'd imagine that direct connect could still work, but I haven't tried that in about 2 years.

With my speech orientated character having killed over 300 humans i'd say beth have already made a combat focussed spin-off.

Nobody made you kill 300 humans. You know that, right?

 I've killed one innocent in the entire game. Every other one was a kill or be killed situation. I've tried talking to the raiders but they're not big on my 100% speech skill despite my 10 charisma points, pink goatee and jaunty wig. Then again nobody made me reply to your inane and pointless post...

Raiders aren't going to respond to you because they are just that...raiders. They weren't made to have civilized conversations with people. Just take a look at their lairs. Mutilated bodies, etc. I'm not sure why my post was pointless. I suppose you say that because you don't agree with it.

EDIT: And there ARE some raiders you can talk to, but they are of course special characters.

I found it pointless because i thought it was redundant. A precursor or twist to the traditional really devoted fan attack on here. If I misread you i apologise.

I accept that raiders are hokerrs but it'd have been nicer to mix things up a little bit more. I really didn't have much option in how to deal with these guys. Even Evergreen mills was just a mass battle. MNy point was really that this game has much more combat in it and agame made specifically to focus on the combat (the way tactics was) wouldn't be much different. Although i dig the idea of it being an updateb tb game from the isometric perspective.

Edit: they censor boyfan with "devoted fan" but not whiner. Hmm.

This is true. And you know...I don't really think there's TOO much combat, but I just wish they would have implemented more RPG elements. I can't really explain it, but even though I LOVE the game, something is just.....missing for some reason.

Yeah, I didn't get that across in my post but I love the game too. It's just one of those areas that could've been better. What's weird is they had proper robbers in OB (dumb as they were trying to rob the hero of Kvatch for 10 gold). Maybe it was the difficulty of getting it to work with ranged combat. Some pretty cool random encounters though.
