Bethesda? Is anyone home?

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 5:53 am

I'm seeing a lot of bugs being reported, yet no feedback from Bethesda. It take a few seconds to write a blurb on the forums and click 'send'.

1- Whenever I am in a city, my walking often slows to a vlow motion pace. When I look around, in the city, I occasionally see little glitches as if more that one 3D mesh is occupying the same space at the same time. (I have a background in 3D asset creation for game and visual effects development)

2- When I was escorting the drinking buddy robot, I noticed that whenever I looked at him, my FPS would drop to 32-45, and whenever I looked away from him, my FPS went back up.

3- I can't open vault 81 or 114, and I can't access VATS.

Many people have this same issue. We are at a stand-still. All of us have paid for the game.

If I wanted to play this game next year, I would have purchased it next year, after the price drop.

Instead, like many others, I have paid full price to play it when it officially released.

If your game isn't complete and still full of game-breaking bugs, why did you bother to release it?

If you are too busy counting your money, to fix the bugs, could you please release the Creation Tools now, instead of waiting until next year, so those of us who might know what we are doing can fix these issues as they do, with all Bethesda games running the overhauled yet still outdated Gamebryo Engine?

If your answer is "no", I would like a refund, and I may or may not repurchase the game, after these major bugs have been addressed and the price has dropped.

I did not get what I paid for.

I submitted a support ticket days ago, but have received no response.

I sent in a ticket a few days ago as well. I got a confirmation of receipt but no reply. I understand that they may be swamped at the moment. But at least they could make a few general announcements here.

A lot of players have complained about key rebinding problems and have asked Bethesda to fix it. I understand that this may have to wait for a patch. But Bethesda should at least let people know either that a fix is underway or that they don't intend to fix it at all, in which case we can look for other solutions.

Yeah a small "we are working on a patch" would be great :) Not to much to ask I would say...

There's been no responses, replies, notices, announcements, news, or patches from Bethesda at all.

It's now over a week.

It's starting to remind me of a child who did something wrong, and is hiding.

No, Bethesda isn't home.

Very unprofessional.

It's as if they took the money and ran to a vault to prepare for WWIII.

Agreed. This is highly unprofessional.

The fact that there isn't a bigger outrage is odd. Did people PM GStaff or tweet to Pete Hines? I sent a PM earlier, but nothing yet.

I totally agree with this post and its replies. Come on Bethesda, your fans deserve more than this.

its seems to me that with the amount of money spent on the game, they couldnt afford to delay the release.....there is no way they couldnt have known about these bugs, they are glaringly obvious. they have probably been working on a patch for the last couple of months, and currently hiding from the stake they will be burned at if they pop their head out.....thats fine, save time on a response, just fix the damn game.

It took around 2 weeks for the first Skyrim patch to come out...I read in another thread here that it was actually 17 days so I'm thinking it will still be a week or so for a patch.

"Dear fans! We are working on a patch! It will take another week! Regards the whole team at Bethesda! Keep the bug reports coming we are reading them and fixing them!" Not that hard, was it?

EDIT: That was me roleplaying Bethesda, they haven't actually said anything about any patch.

The asshat part wasn't actually towards you, sorry. :/ More towards fans that defend Bethesda on every turn no matter how much screw up.

Maybe they brokered a deal with EA, and one of their terms was to keep their mouths shut.

Admittedly I'm a little tired of all the hate towards Bethesda so I'm probably just as defensive but in the opposite direction; so no offense taken and sorry for my harshness as well! I'm not one to defend big companies, I hate the corporate world we live in. But please, ask yourself logically, do you really think they aren't working on the issues they have seen come up? Do you really think they are ignoring the negative pub they are getting from about 25% of the people who bought the game? The logical answer to this is Of course they are working on it; so do you really need them to post something that will only open up lots of other questions and opinions.

New game, same issues as games past. This is just how it works with Bethesda. Love em or hate em, they are consistent.

I've had a few CTDs. I'm also having artifacting issues but I'm pretty sure that is my GPU as it is known for this issue. Though it didn't seem to happen in the brief testing I did with Skyrim. I'd have to test a lot more as Fallout 4 can play fine for some time then out of the blue there they are.

Overall though it's been pretty smooth sailing for me. Though I have yet to get to some of the problem areas and that may very well change...

I can understand for those new to Bethesda games not knowing this is nothing new but anyone who's bought previous games upon release knows this is to be expected. Or should!

Sure it would be wonderful if the bugs were nonexistent but it's just never been the case and I doubt that will change in future games.

"It is what it is".

I apologize again for my jerkyness there was no need for that.

Well I don't know what they think, I only know what they do or lack there of and the fact is that they are not talking to us every much. I think that's a bad way to handle your customers. I don't hate Fallout 4 or Bethesda I actually love Fallout 4 when it works, but for me it doesn't work and I payed for a working Fallout 4. There is a lot of other companies that I have experience with (especially indie games on steam) that talk to me and their customers and tries very hard to give me what I payed and what they have promised to deliver in the final product and I want Bethesda to treat me the same way.

I'm basing my bitterness (maybe unreasonably so) what Bethesda has done with earlier releases, Skyrim still has bad bugs, so does Oblivion, Morrowind etc and I'm trying to make make my voice heard to make Bethesda do better this time.

I do that by:

1. Helping compile all bugs in this forum post: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1544248-bug-report-index-pc/

2. By reminding people that its not hard for Bethesda to actually say SOMETHING!

I would also like to point to other companies that historically have had bad community support and not enough patching on their game. A good example is Paradox Interactive that for instance released a totally broken game (Diplomacy) and NEVER patched it so it worked. The same was with Hearts of Iron 3 witch was super broken when it was released and was very poorly patched. On the forums the lead designer constantly arrogantly told everyone that "A patch is never late, it arrives exactly when I want it too". (it was is signature!) But since Paradox as entered steam they have changed 180 degrees and have super patches with mane pages of changes and fixes. They are no closer than every to their fans and customers.

My point being is companies CAN change, and CAN start to patch enough and have good contact with thier customers. But we need to both make it as easy as possible for them to do it right (for instance by making a buglist - http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1544248-bug-report-index-pc/)and call them out on their [censored] when they do bad things and sometimes even not buy their products.

Releasing a game this buggy and not even talk to us is unacceptable and other companies have shown (Witcher 3, Dragon Age, etc) that it's not necessary and it doesn't have to be this way.

In all honesty, I agree with you 100%...in principle. In reality, I feel like your asking for something that will just never happen. I see it this way; people want a patch, all for different reasons, and everyone wants to know when. So they come out and say "We are working on issues A, B & C and the patch will be ready sometime in the next 10 days or so." Well the folks with issues A, B or C are happy but those with issue D, E and maybe Z are even more furious. Now the time frame; some would be happy, some very upset. All it would do is create more controversy and hostility because you will NEVER please everyone; so as silly as it may seem, it's just better to piss everyone off. There's a saying: "Sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission"...not a perfect fit but you get my meaning.

Are they on like 2-weeks-off vacation from finishing Fallout or something?

Come on Bethesda, you know that your games aren't particularly stable, release the patch already.

I've lost a lot of respect for Bethesda. I know, I know. Every troll is saying this kind of [censored]. But this is real and heartfelt. I've supported them through every crappy launch, but I'm done after this. Terrible launch. Terrible product. ZERO support. Just ZERO. No replies to tickets. No kind of hints whatsoever about bug awareness or patch plans. They slap together a passable game, ship it out the door knowing it'll make millions, then sign off and leave the people who built them to either stare at CTD messages all day or play with terrible performance. Game isn't even that good. Fallout 3 was their last good game. Skyrim was OK. Fallout 4 is just more of the same laziness that Skyrim was. Doneskie.

This silence is reminiscent of how silent NVIDIA was during the whole GTX 970 scandal where 3.5GB VRAM being sold as 4GB VRAM graphics card, as well as a lot of other incorrect specs. They remained quiet, on their forums, hoping the irate customers would get tired of complaining and go away. They even went as far as to start deleting negative posts (without profanity and meeting posting guidelines), then they blamed the deletions on their forum bot.

This is pretty ridiculous, I've been searching every day for just some news on when a patch is to be released to no avail. The game is in a very sorry state, I can't even go near any city in game without my framerate going into the teens on any and all graphical settings despite the fact that my rig either meets or exceeds the recommended specs. All I want is some transparency!

Bethesda don't do that.

Why do you people so disparately need a "hey guys we're listening" post from some spokesman? What evidence is there to suggest they're not listening?

The game is barely week old, give them time to fix it. After a month without fixes you can bring on your pitchforks and torches.
