If Bethesda asked YOU?...

Post » Sat Dec 26, 2009 7:07 pm

I am not sure whether a poll like this has something to offer to the new game and i am not sure if i have the proper knowledge in every aspect of past TES games to put correct and balanced options in the poll. So i thought it for a while before i post, but i decided to make the question as i haven't seen anything similar until now. From what i have seen so far in these forums, what the TES fans are asking from Skyrim are described in the options above (sorry if i forgot something). Now we all know that it might be impossible for Bethesda to develop everything we ask. So the question is which of the above options are most desired by us? I understand that its frustrating to be able to choose only one option so i used multiple answers. But please don't select more than three options so that the poll makes sense. Ofcourse we all want a little bit of everything but the point is what is more important...

If you really want to add what alot of people would wanna change from oblivoin, you need to add options to remove the oblivion level scaling and add artifacts in seemingly random dungeons

I voted AI, but really better stealth would fall under AI for he most part anyway.

I chose combat, magic and AI.... AI in combat svcked for both opponents and allies, weapon combat was really bland, and magic was so easy to exploit the poor design (stack potions/magic that have any difference in effect be it 1 second of duration or 1 value)

in fact i want to find out what we want from the "more power" that Skyrim will advantage to Oblivion. removing level scaling or hidding artifacts is something that could have happened in Oblivion too.

Man, that was difficult. I chose Better Magic, Better AI, and it was a tie between Larger World & More Attention to Detail but I figured that we can always make the map bigger, although the cities and towns will be scrunched together in vanilla Skyrim. But more attention to detail would be things that would be hard coded into the game disc; things that we couldn't really change I think.

I voted for:
? More quests
? Better AI
? More attention to detail

These are the three things on that list that I am most interested in, though I'd love for any/all of them. Something that isn't in the poll that I'd like is a strong focus on lore (effectively assimilating new lore into the franchise and expanding upon the current cultures of the world, and their politics, lifestyles, and histories). Another thing not explicitly in the poll, but perhaps because it's just so general, is the idea of variety. I want as much variety as possible, in terms of weapons, armors, spells, books, activities, locales, factions, etc.

Less levelled lists, no bandits/raiders in Glass/Ebony/Daedric at level 20, no levelled artifacts and more handplaced loot (including legendary items and pieces of the *rare* Daedric Armor. ;)

Oh, and most of the rest you listed in the poll :P

Other:

Make the difficulty slider useful

Every rpg made recently (i'm looking at you Dragon Age) seems to be targeting [censored] chimps on tramadol. The only use of the word challenge developers seem to know is in describing their audience, as in they are 'challenged'
Guess what? Chimps don't play your games, so please stop making them so easy! Getting rewarded for dying 30 times and finally finding the right tactic is fun and addicting! Getting 'Sword of Uber' for killing a few 'boars' just isn't fun. I'm very frightened by the fact this game will have a dragon(s) If my character by itself has the ability to go around slaughtering dragons....just how damn easy is it going to be?

Please please make it so those with short attention spans, and the hand eye coordination of a blind sloth HAVE to play on easy. Make normal a challenge for veterans, and hard damn near impossible requiring the use of almost every potion, frequent armor/weapon upgrades, and a very preset quest path.

If i can beat the game at level 1 with a stick, i will be very very unsatisfied.

These are things I want most in Skyrim.

As for the poll I had to choose 4 options. Combat, Stealth, AI, and Attention to detail(more handplaced intricacies for the player to see and have) Even though I chose 4, if I had to choose just 3 it would be Attention to detail, AI and Stealth.

More/longer quests.

Larger (or larger feeling) game world.

More emphasis on the politics behind NPC actions.

Am I not allowed to vote for everything? Because I did except for other because I don't feel like typing lots of other things but I voted for all of them because you gave us that option.

EDIT: Ah, I see I wasn't the only one.

Skill requirements to advance in guilds.
A Morrowind type quest journal with an option to add notes.
Option to turn off blood.

Oh wait this isn't the suggestions thread, it's a poll. Ummmm.....we'll run with it.

Those things aren't on the list though and I trust them to do everything else fine. I haven't played a TES game yet that I was disappointed in. I love them all.

AI, bigger world and more quests.

Better AI would in turn make combar magic and stealth better, and i hope with a bigger world and more quests it would be easier to get lost in the moment and never finish the main quest like my experience with morrowind :)

I want to still be able to move things around like items and stuff so I can arrange trophies and random junk in my house, and I also hope they fix the awful third person camera from Oblivion so I can actually freely move it around my player without having to press a button or something.

Voted better AI and 'other', meaning more role-play possibilities, better dialog options, leading to possible seduction, deception, cursing, inciting a drunken to attack (and thus frame him as an offender), influence some townsfolk to attack / help a faction - based on Speechcraft, Personality, Intelligence and reputattion (level? qeusts completed?).
