Bethesda better give us a freebe for putting up with the bug

Post » Sun Nov 21, 2010 12:45 am

What should Bethesda do for it's fan base to put up with all the bugs, including the contimuous save game corruption issue? You'd think they'd be trying to kiss our ass to prevent a class action lawsuit, or mass store returns.

When I had a minor issue with a rental car, they knocked 25% off of my bill.

Not a bad idea Rockstar gave us the Hunter and Trading pack for free due to all the Multiplayer glitches in RDR so let's hope Obsidian gives us a little freebie at least.

That sounds like a good idea, since I can't do/am afraid to do some quests because they are messed up (e.g., Raul's sidequest).

I'd settle with a miracle patch that fixes those issues, frankly.

I'd suggest a class action lawsuit, except that it's only the lawyers that ever get anything. All we'd get is a $10 coupon off our next Bethesda published game or some other kind of joke prize.

If only Obsidian actually went through the list of bugged quests and patched them. But I know that won't happen any time soon.

Obsidian is pretty good on getting their games patched and I still believe in them.

Yes I'm unable to finnish some quest like the one the that Veronica gives you, lots and lots of annoying bugs. Right now Arcade has disappeared, he has all of my good weapons and armor (guessing I should of took his advise and not use him as a pack brahman :P ) any one know what his ID is so I can try a spawn at player command?

They don't have to give us anything. You are not entitled to anything. They didn't force you to buy the game. If they want to be a respectable company, unlike EA, I agree they would/should do something like this though.

I agree. The first dlc should not only be free due to all the bugs/glitches (I had to start over five times now) but also allow you to go back into your game and keep going beyond the main ending.

Hmmm... 32 hours played and no issues here, I wonder how common the bugs really are (PC version).

In any event, I doubt they would ever do this whether they should or not.

The corrupted save file is by far the worst, which is what I have. I backtracked to one of my non-corrupt saves, played a while and bam, all the saves off of that became corrupt. Then I did it again and the same thing.

As much as I would love to see this happen, it's just not. I mean, seeing as the first DLC is exclusive to the Xbox 360 for now, I'm expecting 5-10 dollars for it.

And please stop with the talk about lawsuits or store returns. If you were to sue Bethesda, they'd win as soon as you step in the door of the court room. And store returns would probably only make a very very small and unnoticeable scratch on Bethesda's finances. They have another franchise that's even more popular than Fallout providing them money, you know. :obliviongate:

tbh, they don't have to give us anything.. we should be thankful if they fix the bugs. Even though we bought their product, they (legally) owe us nothing. If they give us anything, it's because of their collective moral speaking, not obligation.

I'll be happy if the bugs get fixed and the radio stations improved. (i REALLY do not like Mr. Vegas' voice actor.. old fart takes the pace out of the game every time he speaks)

Obsidian/Bethesda doesn't make the price for DLC, Microsoft does.

Nothing. They did not make the game. As for Obsidian... working to fix it and release a timely patch is enough IMO.

*I strongly doubt you can sue them if you've already installed the game, and if not... your recourse is to take it back.

Lame and insane post, Bethesda and Obsidian owe us Nothing.

Funny time for the topic, http://tradeskill.blogspot.com/2010/10/gamer-entitlement-going-too-far.html about this very problem with gamers these days. In this example it's MineCraft thats the game and the players are taking it to the ultimate extreme. The point of the article is absolutely correct - gamers expect WAY more than is our right given how little money we pay for these games and how many hours of entertainment we get (even at the minimums).

I think all of the gamers who are acting this way owe the gaming companies an apology as well. As long as Bethesda and Obsidian patch and fix the bugs, they are fullfilling their obligations and Then some.

I am amazed at how utterly stupid this part is.
Look, this isn't EA we're talking about. Sure, the game has bugs.. FO3 had bugs on release as well. Just be patient and wait for a fix. The game's just released for crying out loud.

I think the best way they could pay us back would be to let Obsidian make all Fallout games from here on out. New Vegas is so much better storywise than 3 was. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed 3, but I always thought that it was odd that even if you decided to help Eden the Enclave still attacked you. The dialog was 1000 times better in New Vegas too. Now back to my 3rd time playing through it. I've finished it helping NCR, and House so far, now to help Cesar!

Wow. That blog post really does summarize how most new gamers are these days. I mean I thought I was bad whenever I played for about 9 hours at a time everyday, but I never became like this. I always tried my best to understand what the devs went through to create the games they did, and I always respected them even if they made some decisions along the way I didn't like. It takes a lot of knowledge and talent to create a game like this, and we should appreciate the hard work and effort the devs put into games like this, not take it for granted.

Another reason why I've always had great respect for game developers is because I've always dreamed of becoming one. Video games are my 2nd greatest love next to friends, family, and my girlfriend, and I'd just love to help create a game with even just a small fraction of what New Vegas has. But honestly seeing how kids these days just keep taking things for granted and their parents are not bothering to shape them up, it kind of makes me debate on becoming a game designer. I don't think I could take the constant negativity on just one small little problem. I think it would probably get to me overtime. I mean, yes, there may be the people who love the game and would thank me for it, but then there would be the others who constantly just sit back and whine while calling you a worthless piece of [censored] at the same time. It would just really drag me down after awhile. I honestly wonder how the devs at Obsidian feel right now after seeing comments like that nearly everyday on the forums. To have people just sit back and insult them for their 2+ years of effort (and even love) they put into this game.

Sorry about that. The blog just made me start reflecting on things. God I need a nap. :sadvaultboy:

Hell, I'd agree to that even if the reasoning is bogus and unfair. There is nothing to "Pay Back", but I'm all for Obsidian doing FO4/5/6.
