Bethesda's E3 Conference - Thread #3

Post » Sun Mar 15, 2015 10:17 am

My point still stands because I don't consider all those things big enough to warrant a E3 conference. That's my opinion and I'm entitled to it, just as you're entitled to think the opposite.

As for what I expect them to announce, I already stated some possibilities in my original post.

Actually no, there are ways to objectively decide whether or not it's a valid point - especially because you yourself used cost as a measurement for whether or not it's justified to host the event. You claimed it wasn't worth the price of booking an E3 presentation, and that "There has to be something else in the works. Something big." Which, again, can be disproven objectively.

Consider for instance the fact that even Ubisoft and EA announced only one game each at their E3 conferences in three of the last five years, each of which were just annualized titles anyway. They're bigger publishers, and yet they had less to show than Bethesda does. And how could a BGS title not be worth the cost of a presentation? It'll sell far more highly than 90% of the games announced at those events, and it'll also raise interest in other upcoming Bethesda games like DOOM and (probably) Dishonered 2, because people will watch the show for Fallout but end up finding out more about those franchises too. Not to mention there's only a finite amount of studios under Bethesda's wing, and all of them are accounted for except Arkane (which'll probably be Dishonered 2) and BGS (Fallout 4). There is no secret bunker in which they're hiding 100 extra developers working on TES VI for 2016 or whatever. Every single studio with gamesas already has a AAA title keeping them occupied. And lastly, these events last one hour. 60 minutes. That isn't long; a Fallout announcement will be 15-20 minutes, they'll have an intro of 10 minutes, some DOOM for maybe 15 minutes, a bit of a Q&A with Pete and that's it. If anything they'll need to book a longer conference.

Besides, your entire list of suggestions is just a wishlist of things you want, with no bearing on the financials or broader marketing strategy of the company I mean, you think a new engine warrants an E3 presentation, but DOOM, Dishonored, TES:O and DLC for The Evil Within and Wolfenstein collectively don't? it's a good thing you're not a marketing coordinator or an accountant. I'll wager you anything that none of your four suggestions will materialize - that's not just an opinion, it's a falsifiable claim you can take me up on in a few months' time.

If they announce a Skyrim movie I will probably stop watching their conference thingy.

I kinda agree with Pruitigoe, it doesn't have to be a game from Bethesda game studios at all.

DOOM will probably get some mention I'm sure. Dishonored 2? Well I haven't finished the first one yet, so I'm not sure if it builds up to a sequel or not. If it doesn't I'm fine with it not being a franchise, however they might still have other news from Arkane.

New tech? Creation Engine 2? meh...

Skyrim movie? As I said, I personally have zero interest, I know that some other video games are getting movies or there are rumors of them getting movies, but in all honesty, can anyone name 3 good movies based on video games? I can't even think of one.

Fallout 4? Yeah sure, I would probably bet on next year rather than this year though, but whatever. But Bethesda releasing two games back to back like that? Probably not, I don't think they would give us TES the year after because, it would probably ruin sales of TESO in some way, I don't think they will give us TES news so soon after TESO goes free (well, no subscription fee). Another reason, I can see a lot of people skipping fallout 4, I mean, I probably would, if it's just like a year apart. I would probably save my money for TES, maybe get some of the non.beth games coming out and pick up Fallout at some sale later on. Yeah, I'm not made out of money, and so close releases is one of the reasons why I don't buy CoD or AC. Either way, unless they all of a sudden have another team working for them I struggle seeing how they would release two games that close to each other without one of them being a buggy mess.

So I think they will announce maybe one game, probably Fallout, but it could be a new IP or something. And then give us news about DOOM etc. and maybe one or two other games from different studios, like Arkane and maybe another one.

-Theatre goes dark

- Audience screaming maniacally

- Voice booms "LIBERTY PRIME IS ONLINE!"

- Audience may or may not make mess in pants.

- Screen flares to life, revealing NOT Liberty Prime

- Motherf****** NUMIDIUM

- Fans scream in an orgismic confusion

- Liberty Prime enters the frame

- Liberty Prime and Numidium fight it out like tanks

- Screen goes dark for a moment, then comes back on

- FALLOUT 4! THE ELDER SCROLLS VI!

- Fans the world over die in explosions of ecstasy.

This is totally what's happening. I know, I'm right at least some of the time.

Well, having the Numidium and Liberty Prime duke it out sound pretty awesome, I'll admit that.

Though I highly doubt it will happen anywhere besides our dreams.

I doubt it. If they were planning something like that, it probably would have been included in The Elder Scrolls Anthology. (Note the words, "doubt" and "probably".)

Ahahahaha... No.

I mean, it's been years since skyrim, they've probably been working on a different project entirelly for a while now.

And besides, not all games need a remaster, and I''m not sure how many people would really be all that interested in a remaster.

Looks like Bethesda softworks has announced some-sort of standalone wolfeinstien game before the events of the new order.I'm surprised that this was revealed before their E3 event, they're not leaving a lot of software to announce from what we can speculate/deduce.

I, frankly, think a Skyrim remaster by itself wouldn't be the best idea.

If Bethesda wanted to release a remaster, I think it should be of one of their older games. It would capitalize on the people who bought Skyrim, the people who bought that older game who want a modern version, as well as the people who've heard of Skyrims' success and want to see what all the hoopla was about.

I think it would be best for a separate studio to take the project so that BGS could continue on making new games.

That would be an absolutely huge announcement: Fallout 4 and Morrowind and/or Oblivion (or all 3) remastered, released holiday 2015 :P

That's actually quite surprising. I'm guessing it's going to be kinda like a DLC sized standalone game? Since it's a prequel, and if it's DLC sized would probably be cheaper than Wolfenstein, it might boost sales of Wolfenstein for people who buy that who don't own the game.

So it's safe to assume they'll at least spend some time talking about that. I wonder if they'll talk about anything else as well.

If they have an hour that would be quite the time spent talking about Wolfenstein.

Seeing as how this Wolfenstein prequel releases on May 5th, it makes sense that Bethesda isn't announcing it at E3.

Or... or... he is talking about in-game Boston and the snow is nuclear winter.

Let the conspiracies and speculations begin.

I don't see the correlation between Bethesda's head of PR's whereabouts and the location of a

game that has been gestating for years?

That seems to be the point made (tacitly).

It would make a lot of public relations sense for Hines to announce a game whose setting is Boston in PAX East, two days from now, which is also in Boston. Boston...Boston...get it?

Totally way out there speculation...

Mr. Hines introduces the debut of the 5 minute Old Blood gameplay video at Pax East... then leaves the stage At the very end of the clip at the fade to black a badly distorted voice rasps out from the darkness "war;.... war never changes..."

That's all folks.

Hehe, yeah I have a few friends with the ps3 version that tell me that they have to be careful how many side quests they do or the save game bloat will kill their game. I feel sorry for them. Keeps me humbled when dealing with the PC versions comparatively minor issues.

as much as I am excited for a Fallout 4 I would be disapointed at all if BGS were to develop a brand new IP if it were something of the genre of Red Dead Redemption or something in space

Yeah, me too especially if they made a Hell on Wheels / Deadwood in a hugely detailed open world full of quests and dangers.

Deadwood! I just finished Season 1 the other day. I loved it. An open world BGS game like that would be awesome.
